Ticket Checking Staff voluntarily distributed food packets to stranded passengers at Kavali

NGOs and Voluntary Organisations roped in to provide relief to stranded passengers at Chirala and Ongole Railway Stations

South Central Railway – Vijayawada Division fully geared up to meet the requirements of stranded passengers in view of Cyclone “Jawad” as it wreaked havoc in Nellore – Padugupadu Section of Vijayawada Division resulting in cancellation, regualtion and diversion of several trains. Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager assigned special duty officers at all important stations to closely monitor the situation and to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers.

  • At Kavali, yesterday night food, hot milk and water bottles were arranged through Local Representatives for 1000 passengers travelling by Tr.NO.22817 Howrah–Mysore Express by Shri B Prasada Rao, CTI/COR Station and team voluntarily with the help of onboard working TTEs Shri P.V.Sujith, TTI/Sleeper & Shri N Krishna Murthy, TTI/Seeper.
  • Shri N Sagar, Sr. Commercial Inspector, Ongole Section and Commercial staff voluntarily contacted the Locla NGOs, Voluntary Organisations and Sewa Samitis in & around Ongole and Chirala to provide relief to stranded passengers.
  • At Chirala, a total 2500 packets of different different food items and 2000 water packets were distributed to around 1500 passengers of Tr.No. 12841 Howrah–Chennai Central Coromandal Express by various NGOs
  • At Ongole, 1000 packets of Tamarind rice, curd rice and 3000 water bottles were supplied by Shri M Srinivas Reddy, Hon’ble MP, Ongole and distributed to passengers of Tr.No. 22807 Satraganchi–Chennai Central & Tr.No.17479 Puri–Tirupati Express with help of Ticket Checking, commercial and RPF staff.
  • Officials and staff are carrying out the restoration work on war footing to restore normalcy in train operations as early as possible. 
  • The restoration work is being done with strict adherence to standard safety norms in order to ensure optimal safety in train operations.
  • Staff was deployed in full strength at all Railway Stations to assist stranded passengers.
  • Special Enquiry counters have been set up at all major railway stations.
  • Frequent announcement are being made through Passenger Announcement Systems.
  • Extra catering arrangements are made to meet the requirements of stranded passengers. Food stalls at Major stations were alerted to make adequate food/snacks arrangements in case of termination/regulation of trains.
  • Adequate drinking water arrangements are made.
  • Information regarding List of Trains Cancelled/Partially Cancelled/Diverted is provided through Social Media, broadcasting/Scrolling of special bulletins in TV Channels.
  • Adequate measures have been taken to display list of Cancelled trains through Display Boards at all Railway Stations.
  • Continuous monitoring of frontline staff working in enquiry, booking counters and refunds counters.
Shri P Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada thanked Arya Vysya Samiti, Bullion Merchants Assocation, Lions Club, Reddy Sewa Sangham, Vasavi Club, Rotary Club and various NGOs based at Chirala and Ongole for voluntarily coming forward to help the stranded passengers. He also appreciated and applauded the efforts of Shri N Sagar,SCI, Ongole Shri B Prasada Rao, CTI, Shri P V Sujith, TTI/Sleeper, Shri N Krishna Murthy, TTI/Seeper, Ticket Checking Staff and Station Staff in providing assistatace to starnded passengers.
Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure), Shri E. Santharam, Sr. DEN, Co-ord; Shri N. Bhanu Surya Prakash, Sr. DEN, South; Shri B. Rama Rao, Sr. DEN, Central; Shri S. Muni Reddy, Sr DEE, Maintenance; Shri R. Viswanath Reddy, Sr. DSTE; Shri J. Sekhar Babu, Sr. DEE, TRD; Shri K. Sridhar, DEN, East and Other Branch Officers are monitoring the track restoration operations at the site near Nellore–Padugupadu Section.
Shri M Srikanth, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager (Operations), Shri P Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri V Anjaneyulu, Sr. Divisional Operational Manager and all Branch Officers are closely monitoring the measures taken in view of Cyclone from Control office, Vijayawada.
South Central Railway, Vijayawada appeals to its esteemed Passengers to please plan their rail journeys keeping in view the above factors and may check details of the running of the trains before undertaking their journey.
