Travel Advisory for Safe Journey during Diwali
In order to make train journey safer, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway is urging its passengers not to carry and also not let their co-passengers carry inflammable objects while travelling on trains.
Once the festival season sets in, rush of passengers will increase, Railways urge the passengers to be careful. During festivals, lot of our passengers travel long-distances to be home, and they tend to carry along all sorts of things, some of which can also jeopardize safety.
Railway Protection Force in coordination with Government Railway Police has made an elaborate arrangement to provide security to rail passengers. Special Police teams in plain clothes have also been also deployed. Carrying inflammable material and crackers on train are prohibited by law.
Travelling in trains with explosives and inflammable objects like crackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol, kerosene, dry grass/leaves, thermic welding, sigri, stove etc. is not permitted and is a punishable offence.
Passengers and Rail Users are advised to note that carrying such inflammable objects in trains is a punishable offence under Section 164 of the Railway Act, where the offender may get an imprisonment up to 3 years, or a fine of Rs 1,000 or both and under Section 165 where a fine of Rs 500 is also applicable.
Passengers can use Security helpline numbers 182 or any Railway Official to inform if they see others travelling with inflammable objects and the nearest policemen will be directed to attend to the passenger complaint immediately.
