Shri G.M. Eswara Rao,IG & PCSC/SCR conducts Suraksha Sammelan and interacts with Media


Shri. G. M. Eswara Rao. IG & Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, South Central Railway along with Shri. Sachin Bhalode, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Vijayawada conducted Suraksha Sammelan to redress the grievances of RPF staff at Railway Divisional Auditorium, Vijayawada on 29th November, 2019.

Addressing the gathering Shri. G. M. Eswara Rao, IG & PCSC, SCR said that passenger Safety should be the top priority apart from protection of Railway assets for every RPF and advised the staff to be vigilant, prompt and perform duties with  integrity. Shri. G. M. Eswara Rao stressed on need to increase the Escorting of night trains to enhance Passenger security. Later, PCSC interacted with RPF staff and addressed their grievances, assured full support to the staff, prompt redressal and necessary action.

Later, Shri G. M. Eswara Rao, IG & PCSC, SCR interacted with Print and Electronic media at Divisional Conference Hall, Vijayawada and briefed them about the latest developments and track record maintained by SCR

Security Department highlights for the year upto Oct, 2019
Rescue and run away children: RPF Rescued 302 runaway children and took prompt action to hand over them to their parents / NGOs.

Apprehension of criminals involved in theft of passenger belongings: RPF officers and staff have apprehended 96 criminals involved in 145 (ToPB) theft of passenger belonging cases and handed over them to GRP and thereby recovered stolen properties worth of Rs.5.58 Crores. 
Special Crime Prevention & Detection Squads (CPDS) have been formed at all major junctions of all the divisions for quick and prompt response.

Apprehension of Ganja Smugglers: RPF officers and staff have apprehended 28 smugglers while they were transporting Ganja by trains and seized of ganja, valued Rs.6.59 lakhs and handed over them to GRP & Excise Department.

Tenders to be called for large scale installation of CCTV cameras at all the 745 stations of SCR through NIRBHAYA fund.

Retrieval of left over luggage: Retrieved 363 left over articles worth of Rs.91.43 lakhs and handed over them to bona-fide passengers

Tout Cases : In this year -2019, RPF officers and staff have apprehended 28 touts and registered 28 cases against them U/s 143 Railway Act with seizure of 183 live  tickets, valued Rs.3,92,544/-. DG/RPF has taken an initiative to eradicate the menace of tout tickets. Regular drives are being conducting on the direction of DG/RPF. In the month of Nov -19 apprehended   touts   14  and registered 14 cases against them U/s 143 Rly.Act with seizure of  190 live tickets, valued Rs.4,24,645/-   

Shri. G. M. Eswara Rao, IG & PCSC, SCR appealed to the esteemed passengers to avail the services of 182 Security Helpline to report any safety and security related issues on-board. He also urged the travelling public to refrain from making playful and irrelevant calls to encourage genuine callers, as out of 33,284 calls received through 182 helpline during the current year, only 2220 calls were genuine and required assistance. Railways requests its passengers to be mindful of making calls to helpline 182 to ensure help reaches to the genuine cases. Shri. G. M. Eswara Rao, IG & PCSC, SCR sought the cooperation of media & travelling public for smooth functioning and delivery of hassle free services. 

In the afternoon, he inaugurated the renovated RPF Barracks at Up-yard and dedicated it to the staff. He also conducted inspection of office records at Sr. DSC Office, Vijayawada and interacted with the RPF inspectors
