One Day Workshop on 'UTS on Mobile' App
South Central Railway has introduced ‘UTS on Mobile’ app for the convenience of unreserved passengers to purchase tickets through their mobile phone. In order to expand its services and also to familiarize the ticket booking and ticket checking staff to enhance their understanding on the working procedure of UTS on Mobile App, a one day workshop was conducted on 24th December, 2019 at Railway Institute, Vijayawada.
The purpose of introducing this app is to enable the passengers to purchase unreserved/ platform/ season ticket at ease, at their own convenience even while travelling to the station. With the App a passenger need not stand in the queue at the booking windows and can book unreserved tickets from a distance within 5 KM from the station and within a distance of 2 KM in case of a Platform ticket. The passengers can book paper or paperless tickets for their own travel or book a paper ticket for the journey of their family members or friends. The fare for the tickets can be digitally paid through the R-wallet which can be accessed through Internet Banking/ Credit/ Debit Cards or the booking windows. A bonus of 5% is granted when the R-wallet is recharged.
Speaking on this occasion, Shri S Gagarin, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Passenger Marketing, South Central Railway congratulated all the Commercial Staff for their contribution in enhancing the unreserved ticket sales through UTS Mobile App. He also stressed the need to further increase the share of unreserved ticket sale through mobile app by the end of the current fiscal of 2019-20.
During the workshop, a live demonstration and practical training was imparted to the participants. Later an interactive session on the various issues faced by the participants were addressed to, apart from clarifying their doubts with regard to the UTS on mobile app.
Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division commended the efforts of officials and staff of commercial department in sensitizing and creating awareness among staff and rail users alike towards paperless ticketing by use of ‘UTS on Mobile’ App. Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division also spoke on the occasion and shared his valuable suggestions and methods to improve the ticket sales through UTS App. Officers and Staff from the Commercial department have attended the workshop.
