Indian Railways Plan to Regulate Train services on 22nd March, 2020 (Sunday) in the wake of Janata Curfew to Combat Covid-19
Keeping in view the fact that the demand for rail travel will be vastly reduced during the Janata Curfew from 07.00 hrs to 21.00 hrs on 22nd March, 2020 (Sunday), Indian Railways has planned to regulate train services all over India as follows:
(a) Suburban Services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Secunderabad / Hyderabad will be reduced to bare minimum level, only to cater to essential travel requirements keeping in view that the day falls on Holiday i.e., Sunday.
(b) All Passenger Trains originating between midnight of 21/ 22.03.2020 to 22.00 hrs of 22.03.2020 (approximately 2400 services) on 22nd March, 2020 will not be run. However, the passenger train services already on run at 0700 hrs on the day will be allowed to run to the destinations.
(c) All long distance Mail/Express and Intercity Trains originating between 04.00 hrs and 22.00 hrs on the day (22nd March, 2020) will remain cancelled (approximately 1300 services). However, trains already on run at 07.00 hrs on the day will he allowed to run to the destinations.
Train wise details pertaining to South Central Railway will follow in due course.
Passengers alighting at enroute stations from trains already on run during the period, and desirous of staying at the station will be accommodated in the waiting halls, waiting rooms and concourse. Adequate arrangements will be made to facilitate hassle-free refund to passengers affected by Train Cancellations.
