POS Machines for Acceptance of EFT Transactions on Trains; One more Passenger-Friendly Initiative on Vijayawada Division
Taking forward the
Digital India Mission, Indian Railways has issued POS machines for acceptance
of EFT transactions through digital modes by Ticket Checking Staff.
Vijayawada Division became
the first Division on South Central Railway to implement the usage of the POS
machines by Ticket Checking Staff. On pilot basis, 50 POS machines have been
made available to the staff and the same is being used to collect digital
payments of EFT. 30 are used in sleeper and 20 in AC Coaches. The same are
being used with printers and printed receipts are also being issued to the rail
users.
The Division is also
conducting various seminars to make the staff well versed with the procedures
of the usage. The staff is well trained and has hands-on knowledge of POS
machines in terms of their features, functional utility and reconciliation
procedures. They are thoroughly following the compliance.
The provision of the digital
payment EFT options to passengers is being monitored at the apex level. The
on-field performance of digital payments through POS is being closely monitored
by all concerned.
Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy,
Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager is very happy with the positive response from
passengers with the use of POS machines. He opined that it is rail user
friendly service which also helps the staff with improved productivity. He also
stated that 50 more machines are under procurement.
Shri P. Srinivas,
Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division commended the Commercial
Department for taking forward the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Digital India
Mission. He also said that digital EFT will help passengers to travel with
minimum cash.
