Vijayawada Division successfully obtains CFO (Consent for Operation) for all the 28 Good Sheds from State Pollution Control Board






Commercial Department of Vijayawada Division with continuous and constant efforts has successfully obtained ‘Consent for Operation’ for all the 28 Goods Sheds over the division from State Pollution Control Board (PCB) authorities with a validity period of 3 years. As per the directives of the Railway Board and guidelines from the National Green Tribunal, it is mandatory for all the Goods sheds to obtain CFO from State PCB. Industries/Units are required to obtain Consent for Operation (CFO) of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) for operating their units as required under Section 25/26 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and amendments thereof and under section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and amendments thereof. Accordingly, CFO was successfully obtained for all the 28 good sheds and 12 sidings of the Vijayawada Division. All the criteria and the prescribed certificates required for obtaining the consent were fulfilled, along with payment of a Statutory fee of Rs.31.30 Lakh and commitment to abide by the legal provisions of the State Pollution Control Board. This reflects the Commitment and determination of the Vijayawada Division in fulfilling the environmental obligations and support for the green environment in true letter and spirit.

The entire process for this procedure was done by the Commercial Department staff without engaging any consultancy firm. With this, Vijayawada Division is the First Division in the SCR Zone to obtain this consent for all the good sheds in a short span of time. Vijayawada Division has recently taken up developing the Good Sheds suiting to the existing needs of Freight Customers. Concrete cement loading platforms, merchants’ rooms, drinking water facilities, labour restrooms, lighting facilities to carry on round-the-clock operations, approach roads are being arranged. As a part of it, Eluru, Dwarapudi Goods sheds were developed on similar lines recently with upgraded facilities. Tenders are also being called for the development of Goods sheds through PPP mode. 

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager Vijayawada congratulated the Team Commercial for achieving the consent in a very short span. Shri Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada lauded the efforts of Shri D. Umasankar, CCI, Goods, Commercial Inspectors of the section and members of Business Development units for achieving this feat.
