Vijayawada Division conferred with two State Energy Conservation Awards

ETTC secured Gold and Railway Hospital, Vijayawada secured Silver awards under Commercial building category for the Year 2021


Vijayawada Division achieved savings of 63.32 Lakh Electrical units per year through application of solar energy and usage of LED appliances, resulting in  savings of Rs.4.41 Crore.

South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division bagged Gold & Silver AP State Energy Conservation Awards for best energy saving practices under Commercial Buildings Category for the year 2021. Electric Traction Training Centre (ETTC) secured gold award and Railway Hospital, Vijayawada secured silver award under Commercial building category.

Recently, ETTC and Divisional Railway Hospital Vijayawada bagged prestigious National Energy Conservation awards for the energy efficient measures from Ministry of Power, government of India. Shri Somesh Kumar, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SCR and Shri S. Muni Reddy, Sr.Divisional Electrical Engineer, Maintenance received the awards for Vijayawada Division from Shri R.K. Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Power at National Energy Conservation Award function held at Delhi on 14th December, 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri S. Muni Reddy, Sr. DEE/M expressed immense happiness for securing the State Energy Conservation Awards for the Division. He also said that for the first time Division was bestowed with two National Energy Conservation Awards. He thanked the Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada and Shri Somesh Kumar, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SCR for outstanding  support and guidance in securing these prestigious awards at National and State level. He also said Vijayawada Division is observing National Energy Conservation Week from 14-21st November, 2021 and Energy Efficient practices and current saving measures are being circulated among all the departments and across the Division for widespread awareness. He said that through application of solar energy and usage of LED fixtures Division is saving 63.32 Lakh electrical units per year thereby resulting in saving of Rs.4.10 Crore.

Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM Vijayawada, congratulated the Electrical Department for bringing laurels to the Division. He also said that that Energy efficient practices and application of Solar energy is very much essential to conserve natural resources and protect global ecosystems to support health and wellbeing of mankind, now and in the future.

The following are Energy Efficient measures adopted by the Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada and ETTC, Vijayawada.



Divisional Railway Hospital Vijayawada

Railway Hospital/BZA has adopted various energy conservation measures like replacement of old ceiling fans with BLDC fans, provision of Inverter AC units in place of star rated AC units, provision of occupancy sensors in doctors chambers and toilets, timers for water coolers and provision of 10KWp solar power plant etc. New OPD block of Railway Hospital/BZA has awarded “Platinum rating” by Indian Green Building Council(IGBC). Irrespective of increased built-up area of 1,444.4 Sqm, additional electrical loads and hospital working round the clock, the consumption of the Railway Hospital/Vijayawada reduced by 94,336 units. For which, Railway Hospital was awarded with 1st prize under Buildings category at National Energy Conservation Awards.


Electric Traction Training Centre, Vijayawada 

Electric Traction Training Centre, Vijayawada has implemented energy conservation measures like provision of solar tree, roof-top solar power plant totaling to 15Kwp solar plant. Provision of solar pump, solar street lights, occupancy sensors, timers for water coolers, provision of energy efficient equipment like LED lights, BLDC fans, Inverter AC units. Regulation of working hours of high power consuming equipment like pumps, simulator and AC units by timely operation during working hours. Electric Traction Training Centre, Vijayawada was awarded with 2nd prize under Institutions category for energy conservation.
