Trespassing Railway Tracks is a Punishable Offence

Please use Foot Over Bridges and Subways for inter-platform movement

Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway has started a Passenger Safety Campaign to create awareness amongst the Rail Users in general and passengers in particular towards safer rail journeys. Towards this an awareness campaign to discourage commuters of passenger train services from trespassing railway tracks is underway. The drive will help prevent accidents.

We request passengers and general public to be vigilant and patient at railway premises and level crossings. Crossing a closed level crossing gate is a punishable offence and extremely dangerous. We appeal to the passengers and road users to cooperate for ensuring their own safety by not crossing the tracks when the level Crossing Gate is closed.

The signboards are placed at all level crossings for the convenience of the commuters and general public. Stop signals at railway crossings should be obeyed because trains are fast and heavy and cannot stop quickly. People are advised to check for trains even if the lights are not flashing. When the traffic ahead of you has stopped, please remain behind the stop line unless there is room to move ahead safely. If the road users have stopped for a train, they must always check that another one is not approaching the crossing before they move. People should not drive onto a level crossing while a train is approaching. Railways from our end is replacing level crossings with limited height subways wherever feasible to ensure a much safer rail track crossing.

The following precautions will ensure safety of the Rail Users/General Public

  • Do not trespass railway tracks at Railway stations or in mid-section
  • Make use of Foot Over Bridges, Subways, Road Over/Under Bridges, Rail crossings etc. to cross railway tracks
  • Do not use mobile phones, while walking near railway tracks or while boarding/alighting the trains
  •          Do not gather or indulge in any activity or in the vicinity of railway tracks
  •          Do not indulge in any form of photography including taking selfies in the vicinity of railway tracks
  •          Do not stand on the foot board of trains or on the edge of platforms
  •          Do not board/alight trains on the wrong side at Railway stations
  •          Do not board/alight a running train or crowd the entrance of the coach, which hampers the movement of other passengers
  •          Do not carry inflammables, gas cylinders, dangerous items by train
  •          Avoid taking selfies near railway tracks
  •          Do not stand or squat on the adjacent track whenever your train stops in midsection
