SCRWWO, Vijayawada Organizes Workshop on Mental Well-Being & Digital Addiction

Various interactive games, fun activities based on Emotional quotient were conducted for the Internees

South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization(SCRWWO), Vijayawada conducted Workshop on Mental Well-Being & Digital Addiction for the Internees of E- World on 18th May, 2023 at Divisional Railway Auditorium. Dr. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Around 250 Students pursuing internship in the E-World Centre run by SCRWWO took part in the workshop today.  As May being the month of Mental Health Awareness Month, The workshop was conducted with an objective of to raise awareness regarding the importance of Mental Wellbeing, Staying Healthy and to combat depression among Students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada stated that health & wellbeing is one of the major sustainable development goal of UNICEF and equal importance should be given to mental and physical health in everyone’s life. She said that such workshops on Mental wellbeing focuses on stigma, discrimination, the challenges people face, and how to discuss mental health with a colleague, friend or family members. She also said that the Digital addiction is the greatest challenge for the millennial and Gen Z which result in unfinished tasks, forgotten responsibilities, loss of concentration and sedentary lifestyles. She underscored the importance of Digital Detox and enjoying beauty of the nature, long walk and pristine surroundings  visually. as best alternatives to calm down the senses and to overcome anxiety.

As part of this WorkShop, the students were screened for their level of well - being and digital addiction through a standardized questionnaire. The students participated in activities like ‘Know your strengths’, ‘Colour your Heart’, ‘Gratitude note’, ‘Blow your worries’ with a loads  of enthusiasm. They were made aware of the importance of emotional well-being, ways to look after their mental health, perils of digital addiction and ways to overcome the same.

In the end, Dr. Jaya Mohan thanked the E-World Unit and Personnel Department for their efforts in making this work shop a huge success. She appealed to the students to reach out to near & dear ones regarding any mental health issues and by sharing the issue emotional pressure reduces. She also said that “It’s Okay to not be Okay” and addressing the mental health concerns should always be a priority.
