Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister lays foundation stone for Redevelopment of Eluru Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 508 Railway stations across the Nation including Eluru Railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme on 6th August, 2023 through Remote Video link. Shri S. Abdul Nazeer, Hon’ble Governor, State of of Andhra Pradesh   graced the Foundation Stone laying ceremony as Special Guest at Eluru Railway Station to witness Hon’ble PM address. Smt. Ghanta Padma Sree, Hon'ble ZP Chairperson West Godavari, Shri V Ravindranadh, MLC, Andhra Pradesh and Smt. Shaik Noor Jahan, Hon’ble Mayor, Eluru attended the foundation stone laying ceremony at Eluru Station. Amrit Bharat Station scheme envisaged by the Ministry of Railways is aimed to modernize Railway stations and bring in major transformation in the landscape of Indian Railways by enhancing passenger experience and comfort.

At the outset, Narendra A Patil, DRM invited the Chief Guest Shri S. Abdul Nazeer, Hon’ble Governor State of Andhra Pradesh, Smt. Ghanta Padma Sree, Hon'ble ZP Chairperson West Godavari, Shri V Ravindranadh, MLC, Andhra Pradesh and other Dignitaries on to the dais. All the Dignitaries, Students, Parents and Staff witnessed the foundation stone laying ceremony for redevelopment of 508 Railway Stations at once by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister through video conferencing.   

At New Delhi, on this momentous occasion, Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister said that this day will be heralded as history in making and will be a beacon of positive change, as we are paving way for the large scale up gradation of infrastructure at 508 Railway Stations under Amrit Bharat Station scheme.  Shri Narendra Modi said that this redevelopment programme will immensely benefit the populace of the country; aids in Nation’s Progress and boost the economy of India. On this momentous occasion, Shri Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt greeting to citizens of the Nation and appealed the public to contribute to the growth and development of our beloved India 

Shri S. Abdul Nazeer, Hon’ble Governor of India conveyed his heart felt greetings for the initiative of Ministry of Railways on choosing 18 Stations across Andhra Pradesh in the first phase of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and setting tone for remarkable changes and development that we are about to witness in near future. Shri Abdul Nazeer expressed immense joy and lauded the inspiring vision of Shri Narendra Modi ji to transform the face of Indian Railways. Shri Abdul Nazeer also congratulated the efforts of Railway Personnel for their continuous & tireless efforts in keeping the wheels running safely. 

Addressing Media, Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM, stated that Vijayawada Division is proud to host such a momentous event. He stated that the broad objective is to formalize a visionary master plan for each of the railway stations under ABSS and implement the same in a phase wise manner to enhance amenities and facilities much beyond the minimum essential requirement. DRM said that this is a game changing move by Indian Railways to improve the station experience of passengers and major thrust to boost the revenue generation of these stations. DRM said that Eluru Station is being developed with Rs. 21.1 Crore and the areas focused are improvements to façade, circulating area and many other amenities. DRM extolled the foresight of Hon’ble PM to launch such initiative which will definitely reap dividends in coming years.

Earlier students, Scouts & Guides took part in various cultural programmes like singing, folklore and drama which enthralled the huge gathering at Eluru Railway Station. As part of this Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, various competitions like painting, drawing, essay writing competitions were held by Personnel Department. The winners were presented with memo and appreciation certificates by the during the event. 

Shri V. Prasanna Venkatesh, I.A.S, District Collector, Eluru, Smt. Mary Prasanthi IPS, Superintendent of Police, Smt. V Nirmala Kishore, PAC member, Shri. Maganti Venkateswara Rao, Ex. MP, Eluru, Shri Vavilapalli Rambabu, Sr. DCM, Shri S. Varun babu, Sr. DEN, Coord, Shri. T. Suresh, Sr. DEE, Maintenance, Shri Valleswara B Thokala, Sr.DSC, Sri. V Venkateswara Rao, DRUCC member and other senior officials from different Central Government Ministries took part in the event at Eluru Railway Station.
