Railway Officials conducts surprise catering checks at Vijayawada Railway Station

Rs 59,800/- Penalty realized during surprise catering check

Officials of Commercial Department conducted surprise catering checks on all the plaforms of Vijayawada Station today i.e., 16th September, 2023. During the check, all the catering stalls and credentials of vendors, permits and their authenticity were checked. The check was carried out under the supervision of Shri Vavilapalli Rambabu, IRTS, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division.

During the check 26 unauthorised vendors without proper ID cards and expired Permits were penalized and a sum of Rs 59,800/- was realised.

3 unauthorized apprehended during the check were handed over to on duty RPF by commercial staff.

All the vendors & licensees were counselled to refrain from excess charging, deployment of vending staff with proper permits as per prescribed limits  and stop encroaching the extra space on the platforms to facilitate free movement of passengers especially during peak hours at Vijayawada.

Shri Vavilapalli. Ram Babu, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager., Vijayawada Division complimented the efforts of all the  Commercial and Staff at Vijayawada Station and advised them to conduct   such surprise checks frequently to check the menace of unauthorised Hawking and Vending at station premises. Sr. DCM said that the Commercial Department is undertaking several preventive measures and steps to provide esteemed passengers with quality food across the length of Division
