“The
Real Samaritans always in the service of Distressed & Needy - No Matter
it’s On Duty/off Duty; Rail/Road”
On the wee hours of Sunday i.e.
26th November, a Travels Bus from Cuddapah, packed with Elderly Women &
Children was heading to the most revered destination Shirdi on a pilgrimage.
All The Passengers inside the bus were in deep slumber as it was deep mid
night. The Restless Driver speeding near Surareddipalem suddenly dozed off and
hit the Divider. Things went haywire and the Bus got capsized in span of
seconds. Luckily, Ongole Ticket Checking Staff, Mr.B.V.N.Teja, TTI, Ongole Squad
& Mr.R.Sudheer, TTI, Ongole Squad after concluding a train check were
heading to their home on the same path and behind this ill-fated bus. With
sudden turn of events, they managed to control their vehicle and applied brakes
immediately.
After parking the vehicle aside
both of them rushed to the capsized bus immediately and all they could hear was
wails of elderly women & distressed children crying for help in the dark.
To their misery, the fuel tank of the bus also started leaking on to the road
surface. Moved by the incident, both of
them voluntarily swung into action to save the lives of passengers. While one
of them got into the bus and started consoling the kids in panic state trapped
inside the bus the other staff searched for iron rod to break open the windows
and managed to get one.
Also the Ticket Checking Staff
had contacted 108 ambulance services and conveyed them regarding the ghastly
incident. Braving all the odds, they both got into the bus and first rescued
the children out from the bus. In the mean time they also managed to mobilize
people in the proximity to help the passengers. The elderly women and men were
removed from the bus through immense pain & gallant efforts by these two.
Many of them suffered fractures and bruises but they were safely escorted to a
secured place. Also the 108 reached in time and started ferrying the injured to
the nearest Hospital.
Luckily in the incident there
were no causalities but there were major fractures and bruises to the
passengers.
This timely intervention by
Ongole Squad of Vijayawada Division saved many lives in the golden hour. All
the elderly women and men travelling hailed their selfless heroic efforts and
blessed them long life.
