Don’t hang your Personal Belongings/Luggage on Alarm Chain Pulling
Device in LHB coaches
With transition from conventional ICF Coaches to LHB (Linke
Hofmann Busch) Coaches in Express/ Passenger trains, the earlier alarm chain in
conventional coaches was dispensed away with and replaced with Passenger
Emergency Alarm Signaling Device (PEASD)/ Alarm Chain Pulling Device(Red knob
like device) in LHB coaches. Passengers are seen hanging their personal
belongings like luggage, mobile phones nd other things etc. Due to such
instances, Alarm Chain Pulling Device(Red knob like device) is being dislocated
leading to Alarm Chain Pulling unknowingly and further causing heavy detentions
of Express/Passenger trains in mid line sections.
Hence esteemed passengers are kindly requested to refrain
from hanging any personal objects/ Belongings to the Alarm Chain Pulling Device
in LHB Coaches which is directly affecting the punctuality of the trains over
the Division/ Zone
We appeal to the passengers not to resort to Alarm Chain
Pulling (ACP) for unnecessary and frivolous reasons, thereby inconveniencing
the rest of travellers. Please remember an alarm chain system has been devised
by the Railways to stop the train in a crisis only. Resorting to Alarm Chain Pulling in unnecessary
circumstances is a punishable offence under Section 141 of the Railways Act,
1989. Under this rule, if a passenger uses the alarm chain without any
reasonable and sufficient reason, s/he can be fined Rs.1,000 or imprisoned for
one year or both.
On Vijayawada Division, the number of incidents of ACP in
the current Financial year is 2159, with highest no, of incidence in October
2023 and festive seasons. Such incidents are causing heavy inconvenience to
Passengers and also affecting our performance. Passengers are requested to
reach Railway Station well in advance to board the train in time. For longer
rail journeys, they are requested to make reservations for a hassle-free and
comfortable travel. It is also requested to passengers not to travel in
reserved compartments with unreserved tickets and travel with proper authority
only.
