Ticket Checking Staff rescues and unites Elderly Women with family at Chirala Railway Station
On the wee hours of Friday i.e. 5th
January, 2023, an elderly lady passenger named Smt. Ann Advani, aged 75,
traveling in Train No. 13352 (Alappuzha- Dhanbad Junction Express) from Chennai
Central to Ranchi along with her daughter, unfortunately alighted at Chirala
Railway station by mistake, driven by her unstable state of mind. Shri Srinivas
Surada, CTI/Amenities/BZA; who was on duty aboard immediately informed Shri K.
Srinivasulu, CTI/ Chirala Station.
Promptly responding to the situation, Shri K. Srinivasulu, CTI/Chirala, rushed to Chirala station, meticulously searched the platforms and located her. Immediately, he informed, Shri Srinivas Surada, CTI/Amenities/BZA who is on duty onboard Ticket Checking Staff and her concerned relatives about her whereabouts. Given her advanced age and heightened state of panic, Smt. Ann Advani succumbed to distress, losing consciousness merely 10 minutes after she was found at Chirala Railway Station. In response, Shri K. Srinivasulu quickly called 108 ambulances, ensuring her immediate transport to the Government General Hospital, Chirala for necessary medical attention. At the hospital, she received prompt care and, after a brief period, regained consciousness. Recognizing the need for additional support, the Government Railway Police (GRP) security deployed a lady constable to provide assistance.
This timely intervention by Shri K. Srinivasulu, CTI/ Chirala Station of Vijayawada Division saved the elderly women and reunited her with her daughter.
Shri Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division and Shri Rambabu Vavilapalli, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager lauded the yeoman services of Shri K. Srinivasulu, CTI/ Chirala Station, Shri Srinivas Surada, CTI/Amenities/BZA, Shri K Chandra Mohan, CTI/G & Shri M K V Jagan, CTI/Sr.DCM Office/BZA in rescuing the elderly women and reuniting her with her daughter and facilitating the onward journey of both. DRM expressed that such acts of courage are exceptionally rare, marking a moment of profound pride.
