Refrain from Alarm Chain Pulling
112 people arrested during January- 2024 for ACP without
valid reason

Railway-Vijayawada Division, Railway Protection Force earnestly appeals its
esteemed passengers to refrain from Alarm Chain Pulling without genuine cause.
Due to frequent Alarm Chain Pulling cases, the punctuality of trains is taking
a major hit and eventually leading to late running of trains. Off late, there
is also rise in incidents of youth & teenagers resorting to Alarm Chain
Pulling without relevant/ valid reasons in the jurisdiction of Vijayawada
Division.
It is
once again reiterated that, Railways categorize Alarm Chain Pulling without
valid reason as a criminal act under section 141 of The Railway Act 1989. Pulling
chains for frivolous reasons may lead to arrest and penalties. The offender shall be punishable with
imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may
extend to one thousand rupees, or with both. ACP adversely affects train
punctuality causing inconvenience to fellow passengers. It also has a cascading
effect on rest of the train’s punctuality and passenger safety is the topmost
priority. The Alarm Chain facility is given for passengers to be used only in
case of extreme emergency.
RPF of Vijayawada Division
conducted a Special Drive against Alarm Chain Pulling menace during Jan-2024. RPF Officials have arrested a total 112 people
in the month of January, 2024 for Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) without reasonable
cause. During the current financial year, 1097 persons were arrested and a
penalty of Rs. 6.39 lakh was realized by RPF. RPF of Vijayawada Division also has
intensified the drive and strategically planned ambush checks at several
sections frequently prone to such incidents. The objective of this drive is to
create awareness among people about the repercussions of Alarm Chain Pulling
over the traffic operations.
