Vijayawada Division Hosts 2025 Summer Camp at Railway Stadium, Vijayawada

 

The Vijayawada Division South Central Railway Sports Association kicked off its 2025 Summer Camp with a spirited inaugural ceremony today at the Railway Stadium, Vijayawada. Designed to nurture discipline, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, the annual camp promises a summer full of energy, training, and fun for young athletes.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest was Shri Srinivasa Rao Konda, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations), Vijayawada Division. He was joined by Sri Valleswara B. Thokala, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner & Divisional Sports Officer, and Shri M. Dinesh Kumar, Senior Divisional Operations Manager (General), as Guests of Honour.

The summer camp, running from 10th May to 7th June 2025, offers professional coaching and spirited competitions across a variety of sports, including Athletics, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, and Volleyball.

The camp is open to children aged below 16 years. Registration is priced at Rs. 500 for children of railway employees and Rs. 1000 for others. A generous 50% subsidy is being offered by the South Central Railway Women’s Organization for railway wards.

In his address, Shri Srinivasa Rao Konda emphasized the transformative power of sports, stating, “Sport instills a sense of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. It is heartening to see young minds gearing up to embrace these values at the Summer Camp. Vijayawada Division has always prioritized youth development, and this initiative is a testament to that commitment.” He, along with other officials, interacted with the participants and officially declared the camp open.

The opening day saw around 50 children actively taking part in the events, with Shri Sarath Chandra, Sports Inspector, ensuring smooth execution of the day’s activities.

Through this annual initiative, the Vijayawada Division, SCR reaffirms its commitment to nurturing talent, promoting physical well-being, and building a strong sports culture among railway families and the broader community.
