Three Employees of Vijayawada Division receive GM’s ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Awards for May-2025




Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway, presented the General Manager’s ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Awards to three employees of the Vijayawada Division for their alertness on duty and timely action in preventing unsafe conditions. The awards were presented today, i.e., 16th June 2025, at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri Narendra A. Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, attended the virtual safety meeting along with Principal Heads of Departments from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, and the Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of the five other divisions, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded from their respective offices.

The General Manager reviewed the safety preparedness across the Zone. He instructed officials to conduct regular safety drives and night inspections in the sections to identify system deficiencies and ensure alertness to prevent untoward incidents. Shri Narendra A. Patil, DRM Vijayawada, congratulated the staff for their alertness and prompt action while on duty.

The following three employees of Vijayawada Division received the ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Awards for May 2025:

1. Shri Sk. Nagur Valli, Pointsman, Nidamanuru of the Operating Department, received the Employee of the Month award for noticing smoke in a coal-loaded stabled rake and avoiding any untoward incident. He immediately informed the on-duty Station Manager to pursue the aid of the local fire brigade. The fire brigade arrived and doused the fire immediately after obtaining the power block.

2. Shri B Narasimham, Pointsman, Chinnaganjam of Operating Department, while exchanging “All Right” signals to Train No. 12659 Gurudev SF Express, he noticed brake binding and smoke in the S1 coach. He immediately informed the on-duty Station Master. The Station Master at Vetapalem stopped the train on the main line within fouling marks and checked the coach along with the Assistant Loco Pilot and Pointsman. The brake binding was confirmed and rectified. Fire services arrived and extinguished the fire after a power block was obtained. He was awarded for averting a potential major mishap.

3. Shri U Srinivas Rao, Loco Pilot (Goods), Vijayawada of Operations Department, upon taking charge of the loco at Vijayawada Yard, noticed during the feel-round check that the TM4 torque arm top nut was missing. He immediately reported the issue to the Train Loco Controller, Vijayawada. The Trip Shed’s Senior Section Engineer and Technician attended to the issue and rectified it. His commendable alertness earned him the award.
