‘Blood Grouping & Typing Camp’ Conducted at ETTC, Vijayawada







A Blood Grouping and Typing Camp was successfully organised on 2nd  July 2025, at the Electric Traction Training Centre (ETTC), Satyanarayanapuram in Vijayawada. The initiative was a collaborative effort between the Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada, and the Red Cross Blood Bank, Vijayawada. It was conducted under the valuable guidance of Dr. Ch. Srinivasu, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), and Dr. L Ravikanth, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (Administration).

Dr. M. Jaideep, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (Health & Family Welfare), addressed the gathering and emphasised the critical role of blood donation in saving lives. He noted that “blood donation is a noble act that transcends boundaries and directly saves lives. Knowing your blood group is the first step toward being a prepared and responsible donor. Through such camps, we hope to cultivate a culture of voluntary blood donation among our staff and youth.”

Adding to the momentum of the event, Shri A. Seetharam, Principal, ETTC, made an earnest appeal to the trainees, encouraging them to embrace blood donation as a civic and humanitarian duty. “Donating blood is one of the simplest ways to make a difference,” he said. “I urge every trainee to come forward and be part of this life-saving mission. Today’s awareness is tomorrow’s action.”

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 50 railway employees and trainees who underwent blood grouping and typing tests. Dr. G Prasanna Laxmi, Sr. Divisional Medical Officer, Satyanarayanapuram Health Unit, personally handed over blood group certificates to the participants. The 2025 theme, “Give blood, give hope & together we save lives,” was prominently highlighted throughout the event, inspiring attendees to contribute to the larger cause of public health.

The participants expressed keen interest in taking part in future blood donation camps organised by Divisional Railway Hospital reinforcing Indian Railways’ unwavering commitment to health awareness, preparedness, and community service.
