Shri Sandeep Mathur Takes Additional Charge as General Manager, South Central Railway
General Manager holds review meeting with senior officials
Shri Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Coast Railway (ScoR) has taken additional charge as General Manager, South Central Railway on 1st July, 2025 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. He belongs to the 1988 Batch of IRSSE (Indian Railway Service of Signalling Engineer) cadre. Prior to being posted as General Manager of the new South Coast Railway zone, headquartered at Vishakhapatnam, Shri Sandeep Mathur was working as Principal Executive Director/Signalling at the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways. He was instrumental in implementing various technological advancements and policies related to Signalling.
Shri Sandeep Mathur began his career as Assistant Signal and Telecom Engineer on erstwhile Allahabad Division, of Northern Railway (now Prayagraj Division, North Central Railway) and went on to hold several key positions during his long career across various zones on Indian Railways including Railway Board, Northern Railways, North Central Railways and South Eastern Railways. Some of the noteworthy assignments include Divisional Railway Manager, Jhansi Division and Chief Public Relations Officer, North Central Railways. He also worked at RDSO, the research wing of Indian Railways, during which he directed the team for the first approval of indigenous Automatic Train Protection system of Indian Railways “Kavach”.
Notably, Shri Sandeep Mathur has international experience of successfully commissioning the Double Line Project from Rawang to Ipoh in Malaysia. This was highly appreciated, putting forth the capabilities of Indian Railways at an international level.
Shri Sandeep Mathur held a review meeting along with Shri Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR, Principal Heads of the Departments of SCR and other senior officials at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today. Divisional Railway Managers of six divisions joined the meeting through video conference. Addressing the officials, the General Manager highlighted key aspects of focus, he emphasized that safety of train operations should always be the top priority. He called for special focus on precautions to be observed given the on-going monsoon season. He informed the officers to closely monitor provision of passenger amenities and ensure the punctuality of train operations. The General Manager also advised to ensure quality of work and adherence of safety guidelines while carrying out infrastructure development works across the zone, including redevelopment of Railway stations. He appreciated the performance of South Central Railway zone during the last few years and admired the dedication of the staff.
