Two Employees of Vijayawada Division receive SCR General Manager’s ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Awards for June-2025
Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, presented the General Manager’s ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Awards for June 2025 to two employees of the Vijayawada Division, in recognition of their prompt and vigilant action in preventing potential safety hazards. The awards were presented on 21st July 2025 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, during a virtual safety review meeting.
The meeting was
attended by Shri Narendra A Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada
Division, along with Principal Heads of Departments at Rail Nilayam and
Divisional Railway Managers of the other five Divisions viz., Guntakal, Guntur,
Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded, who participated from their respective
offices.
During the
meeting, the General Manager reviewed the safety and monsoon preparedness
across the Zone and emphasised the importance of regular safety drives, night
inspections, and proactive measures to identify and address deficiencies. He
commended the awardees for their dedication and alertness in duty, which
averted potential mishaps.
Shri Narendra A
Patil, DRM, Vijayawada, appreciated the awardees and stated, “Such instances
of presence of mind and swift action demonstrate our collective commitment to
ensuring passenger and train safety. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to
all the employees for their exemplary efforts.”
The Employees of the Vijayawada Division
who received the ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Awards for June 2025 are as
follows:
1. Shri
DKVSP Chaitanya, Travelling Ticket Inspector, Samalkot: On 8th June 2025, while performing ticket
checking duties on Platform No. 3 at Samalkot Station, he noticed smoke and
fire emanating from a general coach adjacent to the AC coach (C-1) of Train No.
17240 Simhadri Express. Without delay, he alerted a passenger inside, pulled
the alarm chain, and informed the Station Superintendent and Commercial
Control, Vijayawada. As the train halted, he rushed into the AC Chair Car
(C-1), retrieved the fire extinguisher, and successfully extinguished the fire,
ensuring the train’s safe departure. For this act of alertness and quick
response, Shri DKVSP Chaitanya is awarded the Employee of the Month Safety
Award.
2. Shri K.
Papa Rao, Train Manager, Rajahmundry: On 24th June 2025, at 18:45 hours, after Train No. SAIN
Goods passed Kadiyam station on the UP line between Kadiyam and Rajahmundry at
Km 585/23-21, Shri Papa Rao observed smoke coming from one of the wagons. He
immediately alerted the Loco Pilot and stopped the train by dropping the BP in
the brake van. Upon inspection, a hot axle was found in the 17th wagon from the
brake van. He promptly informed the Train Examiner Control, Chief Traction Loco
Controller, and Engineering Control at Vijayawada. The fire was brought under
control using sand. Following instructions from the Train Examiner Controller,
the train moved cautiously to Rajahmundry Yard, where the defective wagon was
detached and placed in the sick siding for further attention. For his presence
of mind and timely intervention, Shri K. Papa Rao is awarded the Employee of
the Month Safety Award.
Such timely interventions and courageous actions reflect the high standards of safety consciousness among the employees of the Vijayawada Division.
