Vijayawada Division holds Business Development Meet to Strengthen Merchant Partnerships and Boost Economic Development

The Commercial Department of Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway, organised a Business Development Meet under the leadership of Shri B. Prasantha Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) on 28th August 2025 at DRM Conference Hall, Vijayawada. The session was aimed at fostering collaborative growth and enhancing commercial prospects across the Division’s jurisdiction.

Shri B. Prasantha Kumar, Sr. DCM extended a warm welcome to the participating merchants and railway officials, stressing the critical role of innovation, partnership, and stakeholder engagement in driving revenue growth. He encouraged the participants to actively collaborate with the Railways, bring fresh ideas to the table, and work jointly to unlock new business opportunities.

The meet served as a vibrant platform for open dialogue, mutual understanding, and strategic planning, reinforcing Vijayawada Division’s commitment to being a reliable and forward-thinking logistics partner.

Around 22 merchants, representing diverse business sectors, took part in the event. Discussions focused on Goods Traffic, Parcel Services, Parcel Cargo Express Trains (PCETs) and Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) Initiatives. Merchants raised key operational concerns, and also requested the addition of more parcel services to cater to the rising demand.

Responding to the concerns, Shri Prasantha Kumar assured, “We are committed to addressing every operational issue raised today at the earliest. The Division values its merchants as true partners in growth, and together we will expand parcel services, improve logistics, and ensure mutual prosperity.”

The meeting also emphasised the importance of utilising underexplored assets, exploring new revenue streams, and strengthening last-mile connectivity. Merchants were invited to share innovative proposals aligned with the Indian Railways’ long-term commercial strategy.

The Business Development Unit of Vijayawada Division continues to play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth, improving services, and maximising revenue potential, with stakeholder collaboration at its core.
