General Manager Conducts Inspection in various sections of Vijayawada Division 

Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, met the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu on 27th October. 2025 to discuss key Rail Development activities in the State. Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, Shri Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, Smt. Sudeshna Sen, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur Division, Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division and other senior officials were also present during the meeting held at Secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati. The meeting focused on strengthening Railway infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across Andhra Pradesh state.

The meeting covered several strategic projects including laying of new railway lines between Kotipalli–Narsapur, Nadikudi–Srikalahasti, and Errupalem–Nambur (Amaravati New Line). Development of Terminals in Vijayawada area, improved connectivity to ports and support for land acquisition to undertake rail projects in the region were also key points discussed. Additionally, the meeting addressed on Road Safety Works and the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) & Road Under Bridges (RUBs) to streamline rail-road integration and enhance public safety. The meeting was held in a congenial atmosphere, reaffirming the zone’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure and improving passenger experience.

Earlier in the day, Shri Srivastava conducted a detailed rear window inspection of the railway line from Vijayawada to Gannavaram section. During the inspection, he reviewed safety aspects including track conditions, signalling systems, bridges, also inspected the Gannavaram Railway station and discussed on further improvements with officials. This inspection was aimed at ensuring operational readiness and identifying areas for infrastructure enhancement.

At Vijayawada Railway Station, the General Manager carried out a comprehensive review of passenger amenities, station facilities, foot over bridge and the circulating area. Shri Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, Smt. Sudeshna Sen, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur Division, along with other senior officials, accompanied him during the inspection.
