Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 concludes with Press Conference at Vijayawada Division

 



The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway concluded the fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada-2025 with a press conference held at the DRM Conference Hall, DRM Office, Vijayawada. The event marked the successful culmination of a series of cleanliness initiatives undertaken across stations, colonies, and railway premises as part of the national “Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat” mission.

Shri P. E. Edwin, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure), and Shri Srinivas Rao Konda, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations), were the Chief Guests for the occasion. The event was attended by around 25 media personnel from leading regional and national outlets. Ms. Nusrat M. Mandrupkar, Public Relations Officer, and Shri Vamsikant, Senior Divisional Engineer (Environment & Housekeeping Management), were also present during the interaction.

Addressing the media, Shri P.E. Edwin appreciated the wholehearted participation of staff and volunteers during the Swachhata campaigns. He highlighted that the Division has consistently demonstrated leadership in maintaining cleanliness and passenger hygiene standards across its jurisdiction. He commended the collective spirit of “Jan Bhagidari” that made each activity a success story.

Shri Srinivas Rao Konda emphasised that sustained cleanliness is a continuous effort, not a one-time campaign. He noted that passenger feedback, active staff involvement, and community partnerships have been the cornerstones of Vijayawada Division’s success.

The Division carried out extensive drives under Swachhata Abhiyaan, Swachhata Hi Seva, and Swachhata Pakhwada, achieving impressive results:

  • Cleanliness activities at all stations, covering over 9,166 sq. m area
  • Participation of 1,595 officials, 2,243 volunteers, and 741 webinar attendees
  • Cleaning of 64.7 km tracks, 341 m of drains, and 30 offices
  • 114 fines imposed for anti-littering, amounting to ₹24,800
  • 1 ton of waste removed, 35 trees planted, and 26 trains inspected for hygiene

The Division also organised innovative RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and Waste-to-Art initiatives, Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs, and Nukkad Nataks to raise awareness and inspire behaviour change among passengers.

Under the guidance of Shri Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR the cleanliness campaigns were implemented with enthusiasm and dedication, aligning with the national vision of building a Swachh, Smart, and Sustainable Railway.
