Vijayawada Division bags First Place in Zonal Hindi Drama Competition
Vijayawada Division has secured First Prize in the prestigious Zonal Hindi Drama Competition held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on November 17-18, 2025. The Division’s Hindi drama “Akhand Parv” captivated audiences and judges alike, earning widespread appreciation and clinching nine individual awards in categories including Best Direction, Best Lighting, Best Sound Effects, Best Costumes, Best Makeup, Best Music, Best Stage Decoration, Special Award for Best Co-Actor and Best Actress. The awards were presented by Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, during the prize distribution ceremony on November 18, 2025, at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
Directed by Shri M. Gopal Krishna, Mail Train Manager, Vijayawada, the drama featured outstanding performances by staff members from various departments of Vijayawada Division. Their dedication and teamwork brought the production to life, earning accolades and setting a benchmark of excellence. With this victory, “Akhand Parv” will now represent South Central Railway in the upcoming All India Hindi Drama Competition, showcasing the Division’s talent on a national stage.
Shri Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager; Shri P.E. Edwin, ADRM (Infrastructure) and Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, ADRM (Operations), Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway and all the Branch Officers expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the team’s remarkable achievement. Senior Rajbhasha Adhikari Shri Hemant Wadekar and the Rajbhasha staff also extended their support, contributing to the success of the production.
The drama’s theme, “Akhand Parv”, draws inspiration from the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata, urging contemporary society to embrace righteousness and morality. In the Aranya Kanda, Sita's abduction became the reason for the battle between Rama and Ravana, and its seeds were sown by the deceptive demoness (Shoorpanakha), symbolizing the dangers of selfish ambition and the importance of integrity in human relationships.
