World Environment Day observed on Vijayawada Division

Vijayawada Division conducted a Rally on the occasion of “World Environment Day” at Vijayawada Railway station on 6th June, 2019. Team of Officers, Staff, Scouts & Guides and School children participated in the rally with great zeal and enthusiasm.

“Massive Plantation” drive was conducted near parcel office entrance (South end), Vijayawada Railway Station. Smt. G. Sumana, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) participated in the plantation drive near Parcel office and planted saplings along with branch officers, staff and School children.

A huge rally was conducted by Railway Officials, Staff, Scouts & Guides and School children with participants holding placards displaying messages with themes of ‘Go Green initiative’ & ‘No Air Pollution’ from Parcel office to Vijayawada Railway Station.

Later, Nukkad Natak was performed by Scouts & Guides on ‘Beat the Air Pollution’ theme to create awareness among the travelling passengers and general public at General Waiting Hall on Platform no.1 in presence of a huge gathering, which was well received with an overwhelming response from the passengers. Smt. G. Sumana ADRM (Operations) presented Rs.5000 Cash Award to the Scouts & Guides team for their exceptional and impressive performance.

Later, Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada administered pledge to Officers and staff at Divisional Office Compound, Vijayawada today. Vijayawada Division took oath to keep the air space and premises of Railways clean and clear, thrive to reduce the air pollution by sharing rides to office, taking the bus or trains or bicycling and walking whenever it is possible.

On this occasion, Officers and staff expressed their resolve to keep the railway premises and city free from air pollution and contribute their part in creating a greener environment.
