Newly Introduced Viskhapatnam-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam UDAY Express evokes Tremendous Response from Rail Users with Maximum Occupancy

Newly Introduced Train No. 22701/22702 Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam UDAY (Utkrisht DoubleDecker Air-Conditioned Yatri) Express has evoked good response from Rail Users with train occupancy in the range of 90%. Introduction of UDAY Express has come as a boon to commuters travelling between Visakhapatnam (The City of Destiny) and Capital Region Amaravathi with convenient timings catering to the long pending demand of the public during the ensuing Dasara season. Covering a distance of 350Km between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, Uday Express with high end features, halts at Duvvada, Anakapalle, Tuni, Samarlakota, Rajahmundry, Tadepalligudem and Eluru.

Utkrisht Double Decker Air-Conditioned Yatri Express trains are specially designed AC chair car trains by Indian Railways. These Express trains are primarily allocated to the busier routes to increase the carrying capacity. 

In terms of comfort, the new train rake is built to carry more number of passengers, adding to which, several passenger centric facilities have been incorporated. The UDAY Express consists of 9 double-decker coaches comprising total seating capacity of 1032 including two power cars. Striking interiors, cushioned seating, and display screens are a few of the attractions of UDAY Express. 

With the journey time between the two destinations being around 5½ hours and the ticketing tariff being competitively priced, the newly introduced train comes as a best option in comparison to road travel earning public goodwill, with the feedback coming in very positively from the rail users.  

Expressing his satisfaction that the new express service has met public expectations to the hilt, Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada, South Central Railway has opined that the train has set the course to formalize new standards of convenience, comfort and cost effectiveness to rail travel. 

As per the directives of Ministry of Railways the German Technology based Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) Coaches have been introduced for new trains, with enhanced safety features along with elegant looks to make rail travel safe and comfortable. The modern LHB coaches incorporates safety features like anti-telescopic (do not over turn even in case of any collision), are lighter in weight, hold heavier carrying capacity and suited for better speeds of upto 160 Kmph. They also carry Centre Buffer Coupling between coaches for ensuring a strong and safe link of the entire train. 

Better seating comfort, wider windows, well designed and ventilated bio-toilets, sturdy flooring is the hallmark of the coach interiors while the outside look conveys high quality and tough finish. Pressurized flush system is provided in all the coach toilets to enhance cleanliness and minimize usage of water. With a view to ensure that passenger convenience is maintained to the optimal best, watering of the coaches is being undertaken at both Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada to ensure no hitch in supply during the rail journey in both directions.
