UTS ON MOBILE APP- Digital Initiative; Vijayawada Division grosses Rs. 2.18 Cr through UTS On Mobile App

South Central Railway-Vijayawada Division earnestly appeals to its esteemed rail customers to make use of current trending UTS on Mobile App for cashless and paperless transactions and solicit passengers support and cooperation in helping the Government and Nation in creating a cashless digital economy and eradicating black money. This facility will reduce rush at booking counters and a significant initiative towards Green Environment since it is paperless.

Vijayawada Division is making continuous and sincere efforts for promotion of UTS On Mobile App through distribution of pamphlets, canvassing in trains, organizing workshops, conducting seminars in colleges and providing helpdesk counters at Major stations. Officer and Commercial Staff have conducted extensive campaigns in various educational institutions to sensitize general public and students periodically every month. SCR have roped in celebrities and TV artists to popularize the app through video messages on various social media platforms.

The 'UTS On Mobile application is developed in-house by Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).It is an added facility to the passengers to avail both paperless and paper tickets. It is initially introduced in the suburban sector (MMTS jurisdiction) of SCR during the year 2016 as a pilot project. Due to positive response from the rail users, it was extended to the entire Zone in July 2018 and later on, this facility is extended entire Nation from November, 2018 for both suburban and non-suburban services. This ticketing App is user friendly. The main benefits of this APP is that passengers can purchase unreserved, Platform and season tickets through their mobile (Cashless) as per their convenience. The users can create Railway Wallet (R-Wallet) also and avail 5% bonus on every recharge to the Wallet.



South Central Railway has taken several initiatives in order to boost the ticketing sales through UTS mobile App; some of them are given below:  
  • Frequent announcements have been made at all the railway stations about the availability of mobile app and its benefits, especially during peak hours.
  • Display of posters, advertisements at booking counters, parking areas and other prominent places have been done to create awareness among the rail users.
  • Special campaigns are conducted at important stations duly installing help desk at concourse areas for bringing awareness about the mobile App to the rail passengers.
  • Bulk SMSes about the availability of mobile App have been sent to season ticket passengers who are purchasing season tickets at general counters.
  • Special campaigning by commercial staff along with print and electronic media in day journey trains has been undertaken.
  • Special campaigning programme were organised at important educational institutions about the benefits of UTS on mobile APP.
  • Periodical workshops have been organised to the commercial staff/ inspectors about the functionality and its benefits.
Vijayawada Division grossed Rs. 2.18 Cr. approx. during the current financial year till October-2019, by sale of tickets through UTS On Mobile App facility, No. of Passengers availing this facility has exponentially risen to exceptional levels compared to previous year earnings since its inception. Average no. of ticket sale through UTS app this financial year has increased to 4000 tickets per day compared to previous year’s average figure of 1550 tickets across the Division.

Speaking on the occasion Shri. P. Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada said that all the rail passengers should support this novel green initiative and avail the benefits of this app in order to boost the ticketing sales through UTS App. Passengers can avoid long queues at the stations and avail tickets effortlessly through the app, and also contributing to cleaner & greener environment and cashless digital transactions. Extensive awareness campaigns are being conducted on various platforms to bring sensitization at all levels.

Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager made an appeal to all the rail users to avail the services of user friendly UTS on mobile App for purchasing the tickets which will help them to avoid waiting in queues at stations and also save their valuable time.
