Swachhata Pledge on Cleanliness administered through virtual mode
(Swachhata Pakhwara-2020, 16-30th September, 2020)
South Central Railway- Vijayawada Division has commenced the Swachhata Pakhwara-2020- fortnight long cleanliness drive campaign today i.e. 16th September, 2020 by taking the ‘Swachhata Pledge’ on Cleanliness under the supervision of Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada through virtual(online) mode. Shri M.V.S. Ramaraju, ADRM (Infrastructure), Smt. G. Sumana, ADRM (Operations) and other branch officers participated virtually in this programme through a live Cisco webex link. The main focus of this year’s Swachhata Pakhwara campaign is to eradicate the use of Single Use plastic.
Smt G. Sumana, ADRM (Operations) administered ‘Swachhata Pledge’ on Cleanliness in Hindi to all the branch officers and staff to mark the concluding day of Hindi Saptah-2020. Branch Officers & staff took the resolve to pledge voluntarily 2 hours per week towards Cleanliness, to serve Mother India by keeping the country neat and clean, to neither litter nor let others litter and propagate the message of Swachh Bharat Mission.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada said that all must come forward to make India and Indian Railways clean and green. DRM advised the Officers to implement ban on Single use Plastic in letter and spirit. He also said that Swachhta Pakhwara campaign on Vijayawada Division is being successfully organized every year w.e.f. 2nd September, 2016 due to this COVID-19 pandemic, the Swachh Awareness campaigns are being planned through webex meetings. DRM instructed the staff to take up cleaning activities by strictly following the Covid-19 protocol, social distancing norms and all other safety norms without large gatherings.
Smt G. Sumana, ADRM (Operations) shared three interesting videos on importance of Plastc recycling, Avoiding single use plastic during social gatherings and Impact of a single person (Afroz Shah- Cleanliness Drive at Versova Beach, Mumbai) with a strong motto for a clean environment with all the participants. Smt G. Sumana, ADRM also advised everyone to implement such innovative measures in daily life in order to save the Mother Earth from this plastic menace. Shri Ram Chandra Sahoo, Sr. DEnHM gave a power-point presentation on achievements of Vijayawada Division in Swachhata Rankings and briefed the important developments and measures taken by EnHM wing to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Swachhata Pledge and Cleanliness drives were conducted by Health Inspectors, Supervisors and staff at Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Kakinada, Bhimavaram Town, Ongole, Nellore, Gudur and Tenali stations. Staff undertook the Swachhata pledge and carried out cleanliness activities by wearing masks, use of sanitizers and adhering to social distancing norms. Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager appreciated the efforts of EnHM Department and staff for conducting the awareness campaign and cleanliness activities despite Covid-19 related challenges.
Earlier a DOLIC (Divisional Official language Implementation Committee) Meeting was held through the same link to mark the concluding day ceremony of Hindi-Saptah-2020. In this meeting, Shri Asha Mahesh Kumar, Rajbhasha Adikhari briefed the participants about the various programs organised in the Division for the implementation of Official Language .In this context, Additional Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari, Smt. G. Sumana said that the implementation of Official Language is the responsibility of all of us. She focused on Hindi implementation using computers on e-office. She also focused on Hindi implementation using computers on e-office in daily working. Shri P. Srinivas, DRM appreciated the works of Rajbhasha Department for implementation of Hindi language at all the levels of working. The ensuing Swachhata Hi Sewa Pakhwara will see a host of activities including Swachh Awareness, cleanliness dialog with public, clean trains, clean stations, community day, clean workplace, clean residential premises, clean food, clean water, clean toilets etc.
