UV Sanitization and Baggage Wrapping Services Kiosk launched at Vijayawada Railway Station

In a yet another unique initiative by Vijayawada Division, UV Sanitization and Baggage Wrapping Services Kiosk has been made operational at Vijayawada Railway Station to help protect railway passengers from infection of COVID. This contract has been awarded under NINFRIS (New, Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme).

This Kiosk has been set at East Booking Office Concourse (besides ‘May I Help U’ Booth) near main entrance of Vijayawada Railway Station. This UV sanitizer facilitates 360 degree sanitization of luggage with the help of UV rays. Wrapping of luggage facility is also available and both the services can be availed at nominal rates (Sanitisation: Up to 25 Kg–Rs.10/- and above 25 Kg– Rs.20/-. Luggage Wrapping: Up to 25 Kg– Rs.50/- and above 25 Kg–Rs.70/-.). As a part of inaugural offer, Luggage Wrapping charges also include Sanitisation cost of the Luggage. Both these services are optional and passengers can voluntarily get their luggage sanitized by paying the nominal fees.

Elaborating about the service, Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division said that this is first such arrangement over Vijayawada Division and will earn Rs 4.8 lakh per annum for the Railways. He also said that sale of COVID-care items is also permitted in the kiosk and has appealed the esteemed rail passengers to avail these paid services for a safer travel.

Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division complimented Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy and Commercial team for launching this unique initiative under NINFRI Scheme. He also said that Vijayawada Division has always been at the forefront in implementing innovative and user-friendly services for its esteemed passengers. He advised the staff to come up with such unique concepts for delivering best possible services to the passengers
