Vijayawada Division celebrates 72nd Republic Day








South Central Railway – Vijayawada Division celebrated 72nd Republic Day at Rail Mini Stadium, Vijayawada on January 26, 2021.Shri P. Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Shri P. Srinivas, DRM unfurled the Indian National Flag and received the Guard of Honour from RPF Contingents accompanied by Shri Sachin Bhalode, Sr. DSC, Vijayawada. On this momentous occasion, Shri P. Srinivas, DRM addressed the limited gathering by reading out South Central Railway – General Manager’s message.

Highlights of SCR GM’s Message: 

  • During the initial testing times, the zone took the initiative of running of the first Shramik Special on 1st May 2020, which was subsequently emulated across the Indian Railways, for transporting migrant Shramiks back to their homelands. 
  • As per the guidance of the Ministry of Railways, the Zone has been progressively increasing the passenger services duly taking all COVID related precautions, while effectively meeting the travel needs of the passengers. 
  • Commissioning of SCR’s largest Electronic Interlocking system at Gooty and Rajahmundry station with Centralized Electronic Interlocking system which would facilitate easing traffic.
  • SCR has received 3 National Energy conservation awards and 3 Telangana State Energy conservation awards for the year 2020 and 59 stations have been conferred with ISO 14001 Certifications.  
  • To ensure security of rail passengers, 120 Express train services are being escorted every day by RPF staff. It is proud moment to SCR that for the dedication in their duty and exemplary performance, one officer & two inspectors by name Shri S. Rama Swamy Gandhi, Sr.DSC, Secunderabad, Shri K.Madhusdhan, Inspector, RPF post, Khammam & Shri S.Pavan Singh, Inspector, Internal Vigilance, Headquarters have been bestowed with prestigious Indian Police Medals. 
  • Even with the prevailing pandemic situation, execution of the infrastructure projects by the zone is on the fast pace resulting in commissioning of 44 Kms of New Railway Line, 44 Kms of Gauge conversion works. In addition, 127 Kms of Doubling and 22 Kms of Tripling works have been completed and commissioned during this financial year.
  • The works related to Mission electrification are also progressing at a rapid pace with another 120 Route Kms being added in the current financial year
  • Safety continues to be top most priority for South Central Railway. After being a pioneer in the implementation of TCAS project for a length of 264 Kms, SCR has put one major step forward by extending the TCAS project at 12 stations in the sections between Maltekdi – Dhramabad, Pingli – Mirkhal and Bidar – Khanapur covering 103 Km route length.
  • Zone has been progressively eliminating manned Level Crossings, with 29 MLCs being eliminated in this financial year.
  • SCR has stood in the top position amongst all the Zones on Indian Railways in executing Plain Packing, PQRS and T-28 Machine works. Track renewal to the length of 259 Kms has been carried out during the current financial year
  • More than 600 Special Parcel trains have been operated so far linking major regions and transporting nearly 1.7 lakh tonnes of commodities, thereby registering the third highest parcel traffic over Indian Railways. 
  • SCR zone has started South India’s first Kisan Rail meant for transporting agricultural products from Anantapur to New Delhi. This was followed up with operation of more Kisan Specials from the Zone like Onions from Nagarsol station to Eastern parts of the Country and Bananas from Tadipatri through containerized Cold Storage trains.
  • South Central Railway has always been at the fore-front of Digital Initiatives like implementation of e-Office, e- Drawing Approval System, HRMS and issue of UMID cards to serving and retired employees
  • Scouts & Guides volunteered to distribute medicines to railway beneficiaries at their door step during the lockdown period. The selfless service being rendered by the Scouts & Guides and Civil Defense organization of the zone, gives us immense confidence that they are with us in times of need.
  • In the present pandemic times for the welfare of medical and contractual staff working in the Railways, the organization has distributed Covid protection kits consisting of face masks, face shields, Sanitizers and Sanitizer dispensers

After the GM’s address Shri P. Srinivas, DRM distributed prizes to the corona warriors from Medical, RPF and Commercial and other Departments of Vijayawada Division for rendering exceptional services during the peak period of pandemic. Shri P. Srinivas, DRM felicitated Kum. G. Karthika, Sr. Clerk, Commercial Department, Vijayawada for her achievements in the field of athletics and representing Indian Railways at National level. Shri P. Srinivas, DRM also distributed trophies to the winners of DRM Cup- Inter Departmental Doubles Tennis tournament held to commemorate 72nd Republic Day. SCRWWO, Vijayawada supplied fruits to patients of Railway hospital Vijayawada which was distributed to the patients by Dr. Md. Naseer, CMS, Vijayawada on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations
