Railway TTE comes to the rescue of Deaf & Dumb minor girl child on train

On 27th January, 2021, Shri P. Venkateswara Rao, Travelling Ticket Inspector, Vijayawada was manning S-10 to S-12 coaches of 07015 Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Special Express. After boarding the train at Visakhapatnam and conducting regular check, Shri P. Venkateswara Rao, TTI noticed a minor girl child aged 7-8 years approx. roaming clueless in S-12 compartment. Mr. P. Venkateswara Rao tried to interact with the girl in a friendly and docile manner and realized that she was deaf & dumb, as she didnt respond to any of his questions.

On enquiring with all the passengers of S10 to 12 coaches, they informed that the girl was travelling alone without any care taker. Mr. P. Venkateswara Rao immediately informed Commercial & Security Control, Vijayawada about the incident and upon their instruction he contacted Child Helpline 1098. Childline representative responded immediately and advised the TTE to hand over the girl child at Rajahmundry Railway station. Till the train reached Rajahmundry Mr. P. V. Rao, took good care of the girl and convinced her to get down at Rajahmundry.
At Rajahmundry, the girl was handed over to Childline 1098 officials and RPF for her safe custody. On the instructions of the Child Welfare Committee, Child line 1098 officials has shifted the girl child to Bala Sadan at Rajahmundry  for temporary shelter.

Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada lauded the efforts of Mr. P. Venkateswara Rao, for his vigilance and empathy in the line of duty, and advised him to keep going ahead with the same spirit.
