Swachh Aahaar- Clean food campaign conducted across Vijayawada Division








South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division, conducted Swachh Aahaar- Clean Food campaign across the Vijayawada Division as a part of fortnight long Cleanliness Drive campaign Swachhta Pakhwara on 25th September, 2021. Officers and staff nominated inspected base kitchens/ other kitchens, Catering stalls, Restaurants, static and mobile catering units at their Respective stations.

At Vijayawada, Dr. D. Sita Ram, Asst. Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Vijayawada Shri Ram Chandra Sahoo, Sr. DEnHM, and Shri Chandrasekhar Rao, Asst. Health Officer, Officials, Inspectors and staff conducted intensive cleaning drive of all canteens, food stalls, catering units, restaurants, base kitchens on all the platforms today as a part of  Swachh Aahaar campaign.They checked  hygiene and quality of food, expiry dates, food license and medical certificates  of  the vendors and identity cards.  They also ensured protective gears of all vendors serving the rail customers and checked the disposal of kitchen waste (wet &dry) at Cell Kitchens, Comesum Food Plaza and other stalls. The Officials also inspected the availability of bins on all platforms. LAO The officials counseled the staff regarding the importance of disposal and segregation of dry & wet waste at source for easy recycling and solid waste management and instructed them to ban the use of single use plastic in all forms and to encourage the use of cloth bags.

On the mobile pantry cars of  Pinakini and Ratnachal Express Specials  cleanliness drive was taken up by the staff. Nominated Officers inspected the Safety certificates, Expiry Dates, identity cards and checked the quality of  food and milk served by the pantry car staff. At all the major stations like Rajahmundry, Eluru, Tuni, Samalkot, Anakapalle, Ongole, Tenali, Nellore, Gudur, Tadepalligudem, Narsapur and Bhimavaram Town Stations Swachh Aahaar campaign was conducted with great dedication and commitment by the staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ram Chandra Sahoo, Sr. DEnHM said that Vijayawada Division is conducting the fortnight long Swachhta campaign with great zeal and enthusiasm. He said that Vijayawada Station alone has  177 dust bins on all the platforms and earnestly appealed to the travelling public to segregate the dry and wet waste before disposal and to avoid the usage of  single use plastic.
