Act of Bravery - RPF saves Teen's Life

Saves him from slipping under a Moving Train at Vijayawada Station



Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager commended and appreciated the courageous act and display of bravery by Shri Narsimha Rao, Head Constable, RPF, Vijayawada in saving a teen's life in the nick of time. Mr. M. Narasimha Rao, RPF displayed exemplary courage and watchfulness by saving the teen's life.
On 18.10.2021, Shri M. Narsimha Rao who is deployed on Platform duty, at about 16:00 hours while attending Train No. 02705 Guntur-Secunderabad Intercity Express on Platform No.10, noticed a boy aged about 16 years slipping down from D-1 Coach in between the platform and the train; when the train was slowly moving, he immediately ran and dragged out the falling down boy by risking his own life. He cautiously pulled out the boy to safety. The boy had slight injury. On noticing the events the Guard halted the train, and the boy was safely handed over to his parents.
The boy and the parents were travelling from Vijayawada to Secunderabad. As the boy got down for buying a water bottle the train started moving, fearing that he might miss the train, the boy ran towards the coach to board the moving train. Noticing this, Shri M. Narsimha Rao, RPF on duty followed the boy cautiously. In the process of getting into moving train the boy slipped and fell down. The RPF acted swiftly and in time by catching the boy, dragged him out and saved his life. Co-passengers and guard appreciated the timely act of RPF. The boy’s mother wrote a 'Letter of Appreciation' to the RPF Team for saving her child and expressed her gratitude and thankfulness.

An Appeal: South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division earnestly appeals to its esteemed passengers to be cautious and not to alight or board from a moving train, as it may prove fatal. Passengers are requested to reach Railway station well in advance before the scheduled arrival of trains.
