Commemoration Day was observed by Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Railway
Stadium, Vijayawada today i.e., 21st October, 2021 during which a
Smrithi Parade was conducted to pay tribute to the martyrs. Police
Commemoration Day is observed on 21st October every year to mark the martyrdom
of Policemen killed in Ladakh in 1959 and to pay tribute to all other Police
personnel killed on duty during the year.
Tributes were paid to 377 martyrs who laid down their lives in line of duty all over India during the period from 01.09.2020 to 31.08.2021. The Martyrs include 8 officers and staff of RPF and RPSF apart from state police and Central Police Organizations like BSF, CRPF, CISF etc.
Shri G. Madhusudhan Rao, Assistant Security Commissioner, Vijayawada Division and all RPF officers and staff, of the Division laid wreath and offered floral tributes to the Martyrs at Shahid Smarak.
The RPF band played ‘O God Our Help in Ages Past’ and at the drum beat all the Personnel brought their heads up and gave Salami Shastra as a mark of respect to the Martyrs.
