SCRWWO, Vijayawada conducts Cancer Awareness Programme for Women
South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization, Vijayawada Division conducted Cancer Awareness Programme for Women today on 28th October, 2021 at Electric Traction Training Centre, Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada. Smt. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada Division graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Women Employees of all the departments, Out sourcing women staff participated in this Cancer Awareness event.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada Division stressed on the important role that women play as the key life line for the entire family. She said that whole world was reeling under the Covid pandemic for the past 2 years and due to fear of Covid pandemic, women neglected many other life threatening diseases like cancer without taking adequate care through regular screening and check up. She said that prevalence of cancer among women has increased during the past 2 years. As women take care of every family member in the house, they should also focus on their health and wellness primarily to lead a happy life, Smt. Jaya Mohan added. Therefore, women should invariably take time to maintain their health, towards which adequate care should be taken. Women should take a balanced and nutritious diet so that they do not pick up any disease, she said. She said that through regular self screening and routine checkups cancer can be easily beaten during the initial stages. Dr. K. Sarada, Vice President, Smt. D. Sridevi, Vice President, SCRWWO along with executive committee present in the event, distributed health kits to the women contract employees.
Earlier, Dr. K. Sarada, Vice President & Sr.DMO gave a power point presentation on the Cervical cancer spoke on various health issues relating to women, so as to make the gathering aware of their self priorities. She also answered the queries from participants. Dr. Shahida Shaik, ADMO, Vijayawada gave several daily screening tips to detect any abnormalities in the chest region. She advised the gathering to focus on their health issues and spend some time for self examination of breast to stay healthy.
Smt. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO thanked the Railway Hospital Team for providing valuable health tips to the gathering and in spreading awareness on Cervical and Breast Cancer. Smt. D. Sridevi, Vice President, SCRWWO proposed vote of thanks and concluded the event.
