Vijayawada Division celebrates 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Sewa Divas Observed across the Division









South Central Railway - Vijayawada Division conducted ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign all over the division as a part of Swachh Rail–Swachh Bharat, ‘Swachhata Pakhwara’ from 16th September to 2nd October, 2021. Commemorating the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma ‘Sewa Diwas’ Community Service Day was observed across the Division on Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2021.
Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada garlanded the statue of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and paid floral tributes along with Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, Additional Divisonal Manager, Infrastructure; Shri M. Srikanth, Additional Divisonal Manager, Operations; Branch Officers and Staff at East Main entrance of Vijayawada Railway station (near clock tower). Addressing the gathering, Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada said that people must come forward to take the responsibility of keeping the Nation and Indian Railways clean and advised all to say no to ‘single use plastic’ which has become a threat to the environment. DRM and Officers participated in Shramdaan at the entrance and distributed cloth bags to passengers and general public to discourage them from using plastic bags.
Earlier, as a part of 75 Years of independence, Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, RPF of Vijayawada Division organised a 6 km Fit India Freedom Run 2.0. Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM, Vijayawada and Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, ADRM, Infrastructure and Shri T. Valleswara Babji, Sr.DSC flagged the run and also took part in the run. To mark the 75 yrs of Independence, a total of 75 RPF staff actively took part in the event. DRM presented awards and memontoes to the top three runners in male and female category. K Suresh, Constable, Rayanapadu and Kum. Dayana Ashok, Constable, Vijayawada bagged the first place by finishing the 6 km run in 22.26 minutes and 29 minutes respectively. DRM advised the staff to allocate 30 minutes every day for physical exercise and much needed during the pandemic times to stay fit and healthy.
At all the major stations of Vijayawada Division, Sewa Diwas was observed with patriotic fervour. Station Masters and Inspectors paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and felicitated the Safai Karmachaaris, Outsourcing staff and employees for their hard work in keeping the premises clean day in and day out.
As a part of fortnight long cleanliness campaign ‘Swachhata Pakhwara’, various cleanliness activities like ‘Swachh Station’, ‘Swachh Aahaar’, ‘Swachh Neer’, ‘Swachh Parisar’, ‘Swachh Prasadan’, ‘Swachh Dialogue’, has been conducted at all Railway stations over the Division involving all officers, staff, stake holders, school & college students, and rail users with great zeal. During the fortnight cleanliness campaign, Officers administered Swachhata pledge to staff and rail users, planted saplings, conducted cleanliness drives, interacted with passengers to create awareness on cleanliness and conducted rallies at Railway Stations, circulating areas and Railway colonies all over the Division.

Suresh, Station Director,Vijayawada Station; other Officers, Inspectors and Staff participated in the event today at Vijayawada Railway Station.
