131st Birth Anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Vijayawada Division







South Central Railway Vijayawada Division celebrated the 131st Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, today i.e., 18th April, 2022 at the Divisional Railway Auditorium, Vijayawada. Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, Additional Divisional Railway Manager,  Infrastructure, Vijayawada Division, SCR graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Sri Lakshmi, Chief Medical Superintendent, Vijayawada Division was the Guest of Honour.
 
At the outset, Shri M. Bala Muralidhar, Sr. DPO, Vijayawada welcomed the dignitaries on to the dias. Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, ADRM, Infrastructure, Dr. Sri Lakshmi, CMS and Representatives of SC/ST Organisations, Trade Unions took part in the lamp lighting ceremony, garlanded the bust of Dr.  Babasaheb and paid floral tributes. Speaking on this occasion. Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, ADRM said that Dr. Ambedkar’s struggle for upliftment of vulnerable classes of society is remarkable and inspirational for all the future generations.  ADRM also said that DR. B.R. Ambedkar was the God of Masses, social reformer, lawyer and political activist and is remembered for his countless contributions in making of the present day India, especially drafting the Indian Constitution and for standing up for the rights of Dalits and the downtrodden. He advised all the Branch Officers and staff to adopt the principles of Babasaheb in day to day working and keep moving forward with integrity.

Dr. SriLakshmi said that Babasaheb was a champion of women rights and his legacy had a deep impact on Modern India. He had spearheaded many movements like Temple Satyagraha and Mahad Satyagraha and always advocated for level playing field for Dalits and poor people. CMS said that his contributions in promoting harmony and in eradication of social evils like untochability is really path breaking and inspirational.

Later, Representatives of SC/ST Organisations, Trade Unions extolled the contributions of Dr. Ambedkar to the Indian society. Shri Saila Sudhakar, APO proposed vote of thanks and congratulated the staff for organizing the event in a splendid manner.

Smt. Shivani Kapur, DFM; Ms. Nusrat Mandrupkar, PRO; Shri Manikya Rao and Shri Shahabaaz Shaikh, APOs, represenatives of Trade Unions, and Staff were present on the occasion.
