Vijayawada Division successfully dispatches Timber Wood rake from Anakapalle after a long gap of 5 years

With constant efforts of  local BDU teams, Division recaptures Timber wood traffic and achieves freight earnings of  Rs19.03 Lakhs

M/s Durga Enterprises based at Anakapalle, has successfully completed the loading of Timber Wood in a BCN Rake (42 wagons) and was successfully dispatched from Anakapalle, Vijayawada Division to Orient Paper Mills Siding, Bilaspur Division of South East Central Railway in the late evening of 22nd  April, 2022. This is the first-ever rake of Timber Wood rake transported from Vijayawada Division after a long gap of  5 Years from Anakapalle. Vijayawada Division has achieved earnings of  Rs. 19.03 Lakhs by  loading 1007 Tonnes of Timber wood in 42 BCN (Covered wagons).  An average of 4 rakes of  Timber wood logs per month is expected to be loaded from Anakapalle by the party.

Due to constant dialogue and repeated negotiations by Business Development Unit (BDU) at field level and briefing them regarding various economic benefits and advantages of transport through Rail route the party has agreed to load the consignment from Anakapalle.  With the dedicated efforts of BDU Teams the lost traffic was recaptured by the Division.

The newly formed BDU of Vijayawada Division has been making continuous efforts in expanding the railway freight basket of the Division. The team has been holding regular meetings to make the freight customers aware of the benefits of transporting by Railways. The customers are also being briefed about the regular Policy initiatives being taken at the Board level for their benefit

Shri P. Bhaskar Reddy, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager congratulated Shri G. Somasekhar Naidu, DCM, South, Shri DVSS Kameswara Rao, CCSR, Anakapalle, Shri A. Vijay  Kumar, Sr Commercial Inspector, Tuni and Commercial Staff for regaining this new stream of traffic for the Railways. He advised the BDU units at field and Divisional level to continue their efforts towards taping new areas of freight business for the Railways.

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada complimented the efforts of Commercial department of Vijayawada Division. He advised the Business Development teams to particularly make the freight customers aware of how loading by Railways is not economically beneficial to them, but also beneficial in terms of safety, speed and being environment-friendly.
