“Horrors of Partition” Exhibition Gallery inaugurated at Vijayawada Railway Station
South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has set up a Special Exhibition Gallery depicting the pictures of Horrors of Partition witnessed during the year 1947 today i.e., 10th August, 2022 at East Main entrance of Vijayawada Railway Station. Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divsional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division graved the occasion as Chief Guest. Shri M. Srikanth, ADRM, Operations and shri D. Srinivasa Rao are the Guests of Honour. Distinguished Guest Shri L. Nelson, Retired Goods Driver, Octogenarian and Sports legend of the Vijayawada Division inaugurated the Exhibition gallery in the presence of Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM.
In this year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), when the nation completes 75 year’s of independence, the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is being observed throughout the country on 14th August, 2022. The Partition Horrors Day has been envisaged by the Ministry of Culture to bring to light the agony, suffering and pain of millions of people who were the sufferers of partition.
Interacting with media, Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divsional Railway Manager said that the exhibition was set up to remind the country of the largest displacement of human population in the last century, which also claimed the lives of a large number of people. DRM said that keeping in mind the vast outreach of Indian Railways, the exhibition gallery was planned by the Railway Board at across 700 stations in India to sensitize and educate the travelling public about the pain and agony endured by our ancestors. Shri Shivendra Mohan said that Digital museums were also set up at Eluru, Rajahmundry, Nellore, Bhimavaram, Tenali, Ongole, gudur Samalkot and Kakinada town. DRM said that exhibition is showcased with the sobriety and solemnness that it deserves and will be open for public till 14th August, 2022.
Shri M.Bala Muralidhar, Sr. DPO; Shri S. Muni Reddy, Sr. DEE/M, Shri P.B.N Prasad, Station Director, Ms Nusrat M Mandrupkar, PRO, Inspectors and Staff participated in the inauguration ceremony.
