Vijayawada Division celebrates 76th Independence Day
DRM unveiled the an Antique Plaque of Vijayawada at East Main Entrance near Pingali Venkayya Statue
South Central Railway – Vijayawada Division celebrated 76th Independence Day at Railway Mini Stadium, Vijayawada on 15th August, 2022. Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of Independence Day. DRM accompanied by Shri Valleswara B. Thokala, Sr. DSC, Vijayawada inspected the parade contingents of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Jack & Jill School, and SKPV School. He also received the ‘Guard of Honour’ at a huge gathering of Railway Officials and Staff at Railway Mini Stadium.
On this momentous occasion, Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM conveyed his greetings to the Railway Employees and their Family members. Shri Shivendra Mohan said that Vijayawada Division is performing exceptionally well in Freight and Passenger segments due to dedicated and coordinated efforts of our Staff. He said that in the current year 2022-23 on infrastructural front, 17 Road under Bridges (RUBs), 2 Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at Tenali & Bapatla were constructed. DRM said that, Branch line doubling has been completed at brisk pace and electrification works for a stretch of 40 km is in progress. Later, Shri Shivendra Mohan felicitated retired railway employees and veteran sports persons Shri L. Nelson, Goods Driver and Shri G. Gangadhara Rao, Fitter, Electrical for their outstanding contribution to Railways in the field of sports with a special medallion commemorating 75 Years of Indian Independence with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav logo and a certificate. DRM also presented medals and certificates to 20 meritorious Railway Staff. The children from Jack & Jill School, SKPV High School and Bharat Scouts & Guides, Vijayawada performed various cultural programmes.
At Vijayawada Railway Station, Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM unveiled the old antique plaque containing the All India Congress approval of Flag designed by Venkayya garu in Hindi & Telugu at the East Main Entrance of Vijayawada Station. This plaque was relocated from the north entrance and placed near the Pingali Venkayya Statue.
DRM congratulated and announced Rs 37000 cash award to RPF Department and Rs.10,000 cash award for all the departments involved in the arrangements. Dr. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada Division announced Rs.5000 to Jack & Jill School, Vijayawada. Later, Smt. Jaya Mohan, President, SCRWWO, Vijayawada and SCRWWO team also visited the Divisional Hospital and donated a Television Set to the Female Surgical Ward.
SCRWWO, Vijayawada Division President, Dr. Jaya Mohan hoisted the national Tricolour at Jack & Jill School along with the executive members of SCRWWO.

Shahabaaz Hanoor, APO; Ms. Nusrat M Mandrupkar, PRO, other Officers and staff participated in the Independence Day Celebrations along with families, and school children.
