First Goods Rake carrying rice bags chugs off from Newly Commissioned “Niduguntapalem” Good Shed

In an yet another achievement by Vijayawada Division, south Central Railway, first Goods Rake was flagged off from newly commissioned, Niduguntapalem Good Shed in the late evening of yesterday i.e., 19th September, 2022. Niduguntapalem station on Venkatachalam Road Junction- Krishnapatnam Port section of Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway was recently opened for handling outwards and inwards goods traffic. After Commissioning of new Good shed, first rake carrying Rice bags was dispatched from Niduguntapalem to Kakinada New Goods Complex. 1383 Tonnes of rice bags was loaded in 21 BCN wagons and an amount of Rs. 11.06 lakhs was realized by the Division.
‘Niduguntapalem” station lies on KRCL KrishnaPatnam Rail company Limted- SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) line i e. from Krishnapatnam to Obulavaripalli (114 Km). During the course of KRCL railway line works, Niduguntapalem and Venkatachalam Road Junction used to handle freight traffic before the commissioning of Krishnapatnam Port(AKPK) siding. After the commissioning of AKPK siding, goods traffic was closed at Niduguntapalem station. Goods traffic was not dealt at Niduguntapalem for a long gap of 10 years. Now, with the support of KRCL Officials and in view to explore traffic potential at Niduguntapalem, efforts were made to re-open goods shed at Niduguntapalem by providing proper facilities for loading. On 08th March, 2022 Niduguntapalem Good Shed was declared open for both outwards and onwards for bagged commodities. BDU (Bussiness Development Unit) team at field level through their concerted efforts was successful in capturing goods traffic from the new location.
Also BDU team of Vijayawada Division are making all out efforts to capture new traffic of bulk Fly-ash traffic from Niduguntapalem to Madukarai and expected commencement of loading shortly. The weigh bridge commissioning works at Venkatachalam Road junction is also nearing its completion. On completion the weighments of consignments loaded in open wagons can also be done without any hassles in the above section.
Shri Vavilapalli. Ram Babu, IRTS, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Vijayawada Division congratulated Shri G. Somasekhar Naidu, DCM, South and entire Commercial team of Nellore section for adding a new loading point. He said that Niduguntapalem has a good catchment for future loading, being in the vicinity of the port. He advised Commercial Staff to focus on adding more commodities to the newly opened goods shed.
Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division appreciated the efforts of KRCL and Commercial team for providing loading facilities and capturing traffic from the newly Commissioned Good shed. DRM suggested the staff to explore new commodities and to expand the freight basket of the Vijayawada Division, apart from regular conventional traffic.
