Vigilance Awareness Week Celebrations on Vijayawada Division

Seminar on ‘Corruption Free India – For a Developed Nation’










South Central Railway – Vijayawada Division conducted a Seminar on ‘Corruption Free India – For a Developed Nation’ on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week in Railway Auditorium at Vijayawada today, i,e 2nd November 2022. Shri D. A. Subrahmanyam, Chief Vigilance Officer, Engineering, South Central Railway graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Shri Ankur Srivastava was the Guest of Honour.

In his welcome address, Shri M. B. Muralidhar, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer said that Vigilance Awareness is being celebrated across the Nation and Vijayawada Division too conducted several competitions for school children and staff like Essay Writing, Elocution and Poster making to spread the message of ‘Corruption-Free India’ He welcomed the dignitaries to hand over the Prizes to the winners. 

Addressing the gathering, Shri D. A. Subrahmanyam, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Engineering said that the aim of observing Vigilance Awareness Week is to achieve the goal of ‘Transparency and Accountability in our Working System’. Explaining the importance of Vigilance, CVO said that, “Indian Railways is one of the largest contributors to India’s Economy and that being in the service industry our works touch the lives of our customers in some form or the other, whether we interact with them or are working behind the scenes. Integrity and honesty are much more important for us being government employees. Speed and honesty with which we render our service makes a difference for the end user and improves our credibility in the public image. We, the government employees, are bound by rules and regulations, and are also vested with powers which have to be accessed with some discretion. We must acquaint ourselves with updated rules to avoid committing mistakes. We must refrain from doing anything against the conduct rules by which we are governed.”

Later, Shri D. A. Subrahmanyam presented Vigilance Case Studies through PowerPoint Presentation showcasing the ways to find culprits of wrong doings by the Branch Officers and staff during regular works. 

Shri Ankur Srivastava also made a presentation about the Vigilance Case Studies on identifying the gaps in everyday work leading to irregularities, and explained how one can how to avoid such scenarios. 

Shri D. Srinivas Rao, Additional Divisional Manager (Infrastructure), Vijayawada Division read out the message of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. He also advised the staff and officers to follow the best practices explained by the Vigilance Officers and reiterated that the staff must deal work without bias. He asked those present to take this message to the 17,000 employees of the Division towards attaining the goal of Corruption Free India. 

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division met the Vigilance Officers from the Headquarters and discussed on various aspects of improving Divisional Working and bringing in more transparency. 

Later, Dr. M Srilakshmi, CMS, Railway Hospital, Vijayawada; Shri D Srinivas Rao, ADRM (Infrastructure); Shri M Shrikant, ADRM (Operations), All Branch Officers participated in a Vendor’s Meet held at the DRM’s Conference Hall along with 35 Vendors from various departments. 

Earlier, a skit was also performed by the Bharat Scouts and Guides of Vijayawada Division on the theme ‘Corruption Free India’ depicting that an honest employee has a happy family. Shri Shahbaaz Hanoor, DPO proposed vote of thanks.
