Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM, Vijayawada Division flags off 100th 3-Phase Electric Locomotive from ELS, Vijayawada

Electric Loco Shed, Vijayawada completes 42 glorious years of service

On the momentous occasion of 42nd Anniversary of Electric Loco Shed (ELS), Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division flagged off 100th 3-Phase Electric Locomotive from ELS, Vijayawada in the late evening of yesterday i.e., 19th April, 2023. Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM/BZA flagged of the beautifully decorated Electric Loco and took part in the anniversary ceremony along with all staff, supervisors and officers of ELS, Vijayawada. The new 100th Electric 3-Phase Locomotive was manufactured in Chitranjan Locomotive Works and allotted recently to Vijayawada Division.

 Electric Loco Shed, established way back in April, 1981 has completed 42 glorious years of service to the Nation and entered 43rd year this month. ELS, Vijayawada initially commissioned for maintaining Conventional Electric locomotives, has continued the same for four decades and started holding of upgraded version i.e., 3-Phase Electric locomotives from April, 2021. In a span of just 2 years ELS has proved its capacity and caliber to commission and maintain 100 3-Phase locomotives. Electric Loco Shed, Vijayawada is an Electric Locomotive Power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for electric locomotives of the Indian Railways. The Depot performs all major and minor schedules like Annual Over-Hauling, Intermediate Over-hauling, monthly checks and schedules to maintain the health and fitness of the Locos. ELS, Vijayawada currently has a holding of 264 Locomotives (100 3-Phase Electric + 164 Conventional Electric Locos)

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division congratulated Shri Ch. Dinesh Reddy, Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineer, ELS, Vijayawada and team for receiving the 100th Electric Phase Loco. The DRM commended ELS Staff in successfully performing the maintenance schedule of the new 3-Phase Locos successfully since April-2021 by taking it as challenge and appreciated them for maintaining good outage of electric locomotives from the Shed. He exhorted the staff to continue the good work and devise innovative methods to implement skillful utilization of available resources with efficiency.
