Shri Shivendra Mohan inaugurates Food Plaza at Vijayawada Railway Station

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division inaugurated IRCTC Food Plaza – Major Food Unit at Platform No.1 of Vijayawada Railway Station on 07th April, 2023. Shri V Rambabu, Sr.DCM accompanied Divisional Railway Manager.  The Food Plaza was awarded by IRCTC to Erode based firm for a period of 9 years.  

At the outset, Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager congratulated the IRCTC Staff for awarding the contract and providing enhanced travel experience and exquisite feel to its esteemed passengers. He said that new swanky Food Plaza is another value addition to the brand Vijayawada and shall offer 24/7 food services along with take away facilities for the boarding passengers. “IRCTC with the aim to giving the passengers wide variety of regional and transnational delicacies for the arriving guests, has brought in non-vegetarian, vegetarian, refreshments, juice stalls together in one setup at the new Food Plaza”, he added. DRM also inspected the food stalls and kiosks at Food Plaza and advised them to strictly adhere to best quality management practices and hygiene.

Shri V Rambabu, IRTS, Sr.DCM said that IRCTC had called for bids for the 383 sq meters space earmarked on Platform No.1 of Vijayawada Railway Station and awarded the contract with License Fee of Rs.3.2 Crore per year. He said that revenue generated would be shared between IRCTC and Railways in 60:40 basis. Food Plaza has 50 seating capacity, four stalls serving Biryani, Coffee, Vegetarian Meals, Various continental varieties, Juices along with take away facilities. It is accessible to passengers with entry points from inside and outside of Vijayawada Station. 

Shri Prasad, Area Officer, IRCTC; Shri MSP Srinivas, Chief Commercial Inspector, Shri Sk. Subhani, Chief Catering Inspector, Other Inspectors and Staff took part in the inauguration ceremony.
