International Nurses Day Celebrated at Railway Hospital, Vijayawada

Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada celebrated International Nurses Day-2023 on 12th May, 2023 at Seminar Hall of New OPD block. The event was celebrated in Association with American Oncology Institute, Vijayawada Dr. M Sowri Bala, Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Vijayawada graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Anila Patibandla Consultant Oncologist is the Guest of Honour. 

To mark the Birth anniversary of Lady with Lamp -Florence Nightingale, Doctors and Nursing Staff paid rich tributes by lighting lamp and garlanding the portrait. A cake cutting event was also held. On this grand occasion, Pledge on Service as the Motto was administered to the Nursing staff by lighting the candles. The Theme-2023 "Our Nurses & Our Future” was also highlighted. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anila Patibandla, gave presentation on Cancer- symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment & Nursing care for Cancer patient. Dr.V.Sunil Kumar, Physician also gave a presentation on Patient safety. & enlightened the Railway beneficiaries about precautions to be taken in daily routine.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M SowriBala, Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Vijayawada thanked the American Oncology Institute, Vijayawada and Doctors for taking part in the event and enlightening the beneficiaries on critical issues like Cancer. Dr. M SowriBala, CMS said that the role of nurses and other healthcare professionals in daily working are crucial and termed them as  the “Heroes of the Health Care Sector”, whose round-the-clock selfless medical assistance saves many  lives. CMS said that Lady with Lamp -Florence Nightingale is an epitome of service to humanity and appealed to staff to emulate the services of lady Nightingale and tread her path of compassion and passion in service to Patients. She lauded the services of Hospital Nursing Staff during the times of Covid and advised them to keep going forward with the same dedication.

.Dr. M. Jaideep ACMS, Health & Family Welfare proposed  vote of thanks. As part of the event, a Working Lunch was arranged for the medical fraternity at the end. Nursing staff of Railway Hospital, Beneficiaries took part in the event in big numbers.
