Railway Hospital, Vijayawada observes “World Asthma Day”
Railway Hospital, Vijayawada on the occasion of " World Asthma Day” conducted an awareness programme for patients at New OPD block on 2nd May, 2023. This year theme for the World Asthma Day is “Asthma Care for all”. The programme was conducted in association with RCMSH Hospital, Vijayawada. Dr. M. Sowribala, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Vijayawada graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. T. Karthik, Renowned Consultant Pulmonologist was the Guest of Honour. Around 150 Railway beneficiaries took part in the programme.
Dr.
M. Jaideep ACMS, Health & Family Welfare welcomed the audience & spoke
about importance of the day, and prevalence of Asthma and other pulmonary
diseases. Dr. T Karthik, spoke about Asthma symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment. He gave
live demonstration on how to use meter dose inhalers, breathing exercises and use
of spirometer to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. Dr. V B
Manoj, ACMS educated the gathering about advances in treatment protocols
developed over the time to combat COPD diseases. Dr.
Laksmi Tulasi, General Physician, Railway Hospital spoke about ‘Associated
Allergies and it’s diagnosis & treatment’.
Speaking
on the occasion, Dr. M. Sowribala, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) thanked Dr.
T Karthik for providing valuable advices and suggestions to the Railway
beneficiaries on the World Asthma Day. CMS stated that the main objective of
this awareness programme is to educate people on how best to get control over
this respiratory problem and other allergic diseases. CMS appealed to patients
to avoid smoking in all forms and practice regular breathing exercise to keep
the lungs healthy. Light Refreshments were served to beneficiaries at the end
of the awareness programme.

L. Ravikant, ACMS, Administration; Dr. V B Manoj, ACMS; Dr. Laksmi Tulasi, General
Physician, Medical Officers and Nursing Staff took part in the awareness
programme.
