Railway Hospital, Vijayawada observes “World Hypertension Day”

Railway Hospital, Vijayawada on the occasion of "World Hypertension Day (WLD) conducted  Awareness & Screening Program for patients at New OPD block on 17th May,2023. The Awareness Programme was  conducted in Association with Nagarjuna Hospital, Vijayawada. Dr. M SowriBala, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Vijayawada graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Hima Bindu, Physician, Nagarjuna Hospital was the Guest of Honour.

At the outset, Dr. M. Jaideep ACMS, Health & Family Welfare welcomed the audience & spoke about importance of the day & Prevalence of the Hypertension, its causes, Symptoms, complications, treatment & preventive measures to all the Railway Beneficiaries in attendance. Dr. Hima Bindu, Physician clearly explained the consequences of increased blood pressure in Human Body. Later, Doctor’s took part in interactive session with the patients, where all the queries raised by patients were thoroughly answered with solution for blood pressure management. This year Theme" Measure your blood pressure accurately, control it, live Longer "was imbibed to Beneficiaries.

As part of this awareness campaign, Blood Pressure measurement was done for around 150 Railway Beneficiaries. Follow up ECG, Random Blood Sugar, Renal Function Tests & Lipid profiles was done to assess comorbidities/complications in symptomatic patients. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M. SowriBala, Chief Medical Superintendent(CMS) thanked Dr. Hima Bindu for gracing the event as Key note speaker. CMS appealed to Patients to undergo regular B.P checkups & do lifestyle changes. CMS also said that elevated blood pressure is a serious medical condition that significantly increases the risks of heart, brain, kidney & other diseases and stressed that is a major cause of premature death worldwide. CMS highlighted the importance of Exercise, Yoga & Meditation in daily life to beat the stress. Light Refreshments were served to Beneficiaries at the end of the awareness programme. 

Dr. L. Ravikant, ACMS, Adminstration, Dr. M. Jaideep ACMS, Health & Family Welfare, Officers and Nursing Staff took part in the Awareness programme Total 150 Employees/Beneficiaries took part & made this outreach programme successful.
