Vijayawada Division observes World Environment Day

South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division observed World Environment Day across the Division on 5th June, 2023 at Vijayawada Railway Station. Shri D. Srinivasa rao, ADRM, Infrastructure and Shri M. Srikanth, ADRM, Operations Officers and Staff gathered at Clock Tower, East Main Entrance to take part in the environmental day pledge. Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division graced  the occasion as Chief Guest. 

Initially, Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM, Team of Officers with staff observed two minutes silence for the victims of Derailment at Bahanagabazar station of Balasore-Bhadrak section of Kharagpur Division.

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager administered environmental Pledge to Branch officers, Staff and public. A rally was conducted from clock Tower till Bapu waiting Hall on Platform no.1, Vijayawada Railway Station. At Bapu waiting Hall DRM released environmental day brochure featuring the achievements of Vijayawada Division in the field of Energy conservation. Later Shri Shivendra Mohan DRM, Shri D. Srinivasa rao, ADRM, Infrastructure and Shri M. Srikanth, ADRM, Operations and Officers distributed cloth bags to children and passengers.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shivendra Mohan congratulated the EnHM Department for under taking various environmental conservation measures. He said that, on Environmental day we must reignite and renew our commitment to Green Ecosystem in true letter and spirit. He also underscored the importance to reduce the emission of green house gases, total ban on plastic and segregation of wet and dry waste at source. DRM appealed to the public to avoid single use plastic and voluntarily contribute for achieving all environmental goals and Clean & Green India.

Later, DRM, Staff and Students took part in the Plantation drive at Parcel office , Vijayawada. 

DR. M. SowriBala, CMS, Dr. L. Ravikanth, ACMS, Dr.  Jaideep, ACMS, Shri R.C. Sahoo, Sr. DEnHM; Shri M. Ravikiran, Sr.DME, Shri K. Sridhar, DEN East, Shri P.B.N. Prasad, Station Director, Shri Chandrasekhar, DO Food Safety officer and Staff participated in today’s event today.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Railway Hospital, Vijayawada received Award for best practices in Environmental Management in health care facilities at State Level. Dr. M. Sowri Bala, Chief Medical Superintendent, Vijayawada received the award from Sri Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Forests ,Mines & Geology, Science & Technology & Energy, State of Andhra Pradesh at World Environment day event held at Venue Convention Centre, Vijayawada. Shri Shivendra Mohan lauded the efforts of Railway Hospital team in achieving the award. He also said that Railway Hospital, Vijayawada has won Platinum rating and several other energy conservation awards at State & National level.
