Shri Shivendra Mohan, DRM inaugurates Self Propelled Inspection Car at Diesel Loco Shed, Vijayawada

 

This 4.5 Crore worth Inspection Car will save time, fuel and reduce the cost of Operations 

Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division inaugurated Self- Propelled Inspection Car on 13th June, 2023 at Diesel Loco Shed, Vijayawada. Shri M. Srikanth, ADRM, Operations and Branch Officers took part in the inauguration event. This Fully air conditioned Inspection Car worth Rs. 4.5 Crore manufactured by ICF saves crucial resources and reduces the cost of operations by a huge margin.

At the outset, Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager congratulated the Mechanical Department for inducting this brand new Self Propelled Inspection Car  ( spic) to the fleet of Vijayawada Division. DRM said that this 32 seated Inspection Car would be handy to use and helps in undertaking inspection of level crossings, overhead equipment, tracks and stations of Vijayawada Division. DRM stated that SPIC would negate the use of locomotive for hauling inspection cars/ saloons meant for inspection. DRM also said that this would save the time, fuel, turnaround time and resources by engaging the available spare locomotives for the passenger trains movement. 

Some of the salient features of the Indian Railway New Self-Propelled Inspection Car (SPIC) are:-

• Stainless steel body coach with aerodynamically profiled driving cab at ends
• Seating capacity for 32 persons
• External CCTV camera and LED display on driver desk
• Fully air-conditioned car including driving cab
• Onboard Wi-fi for better communications
• Direct and indirect LED interior lighting
• GPS-based passenger information/announcement system with digital speed indication
• 340 HP under slung Diesel-Electric power pack for propulsion
• 40 KVA under slung DA set for air-conditioning and for powering the light and fans.
• Interiors paneled with aluminum composite material with screw less finish.
• Vacuum assisted bio-toilet
• Swanky pantry equipment
